Deserts will be close to 120 for about the third time this summer. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday. It includes inland valleys to the mountains.The heat prompted a state-wide flex alert for the weekend. According to the California Independent System Operator, the flex alert goes into effect Saturday, Sept. 5, and lasts through Monday, Sept. 7. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two San Diego police officers responding to a call for a shoplifter in Ocean Beach ended up buying the suspect clothes and shoes instead of arresting him.It happened on Jan. 6 around 5 a.m. at the location on Sunset Cliffs Blvd. SDPD officers Christian Nimmons and Dominic Collins said employees at the drugstore reported that a homeless man had come in, stolen a sweatshirt and refused to leave.The store declined to press charges but wanted the man out of the store.But knowing it was very cold outside, and seeing the man also didn't have a shirt or socks and shoes, the officers decided to buy them for him."We looked at each other, asked how much the sweatshirt was going to cost, and had the same mutual decision of giving him the sweatshirt," said Collins.Both men told 10News it was simply the right thing to do and part of their job as officers to show compassion for those they come in contact with."I think he was more shocked that cops were doing something for him," Nimmons said. "We couldn't leave him like that. That was really it. It's what we joined to do. To help people."The man, only known to the officers as Daniel, reportedly put on the items and left. 1201

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing a school in the College East area late Thursday night.At around 11 p.m., San Diego police were called to Harriet Tubman School on 6880 Mohawk St. in response to two people seen on the campus.When officers arrived, the two people ran away. Following a brief foot chase, police caught the pair and took them into custody.Police said officers discovered a classroom with a window that was smashed, a vandalized TV screen inside a room and graffiti.Officers also found fireworks they believe the two people planned to set off. 603

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Tuesday identified the two men shot and killed near Mountain View Park Sunday.Police say 33-year-old Tony Jackson and 37-year-old Robert Brown were shot near South 40th Street and Ocean View Boulevard. Both men were taken to the hospital where they later died.According to police, the victims were standing near the Mountain View Community Center when they were shot around 1:20 p.m. Sunday.RELATED: Two dead after Mountain View shooting  The suspect was described only as a black man wearing dark clothing.
