(KGTV) - A fire broke out Friday at a home in the Talmadge area.Sky10 was above the home in the 4600 block of 50th at Madison Ave. about 4:30 p.m.Firefighters found flames and smoke at the home when they arrived.The home was vacant when the fire broke out. No roads were closed in the area.San Diego Fire-Rescue teams did not immediately release what caused the fire.Crews requested an arson investigator and SDG&E assistance at the scene.   483

(KGTV) — A new challenger is approaching the video game market, and it's aiming to become the Netflix of video games.Google Tuesday introduced a new video game streaming service called Stadia. The platform promises to deliver gamers instant access to games on TV, mobile devices, or desktop computers in resolutions up to 4K and 60 frames per second."When players use Stadia, they'll be able to access their games at all times, and on virtually any screen," the company said in a release. "And developers will have access to nearly unlimited resources to create the games they’ve always dreamed of."RELATED: Video games are now a legitimate high school sportIn a contrast to many video game consoles and PCs, Google says Stadia won't require any downloads, updates, patches or installs for its content.Stadia also comes with its own controller, supported through WiFi. Much like current generation video game consoles, the controller will have buttons to capture gameplay happening on a user's screen instantly. However, Google has also inserted a Google Assistant button for its AI-powered virtual assistant. The controller also includes a built-in microphone.According to Engadget, the service will actually allow viewers watching a Stadia streaming to jump in line to join their game as part of a "Crowd Play" feature.Google released a trailer for the upcoming platform, touting it as a new place for gamers to play together:The service will launch later in 2019 in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and in several European countries. Thus far, Stadia's main competition in the video market would appear to be the big three: Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft.While Sony's "Playstation Now" currently offers hundreds of games on a subscription-based service, Microsoft intends to release its own subscription service called "Xbox Game Pass." (KGTV) - A bill that would create the option for a third gender marker on California driver's licenses and birth certificates is heading to the state Senate.SB 179, also known as the Gender Recognition Act and introduced by Senator Toni Atkins, passed through the State Assembly 50-13 and will now return to the Senate for approval of amendments made in the assembly.If approved in the Senate, it will head to Governor Jerry Brown's desk for signing.RELATED: San Diegan third in nation to change gender to 'nonbinary'California Assemblymember Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), a co-author of the bill, said the legislation aims to end the stigma and hardships Californians face when it comes to government documentation.“All too often, members of our transgender, intersex, and nonbinary community experience hardships and even stigma when their government documents don’t match their gender presentation," Gloria said in a release. "Despite the divisive rhetoric at the federal level, SB 179 demonstrates the inclusiveness of California and represents recognition from government that people can exist as more than just male or female."In addition to a third gender marker on state-issued identification documents, the bill is also designed to "streamline" the process for transgender, intersex, and nonbinary Californians to get those certificates.RELATED: Oregon becomes first state to allow gender-neutral licensesCurrently, changes to gender in California require proof of "clinically appropriate treatment." Atkins' bill does away with this requirement.Under the bill, anyone who chooses to change their gender would be allowed to "to attest, under penalty of perjury, that the request is to conform the person’s legal gender to the person’s gender identity and not for any fraudulent purpose."If approved, this portion of the bill would go into effect September 2018.In the case of driver's licenses, the bill would require an applicant to have the choices of male, female, or nonbinary, as specified, available.
