CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District is tightening its belt on the budget. On the table is a plan to not replace dozens of positions and cut bus routes. Critics say the move could leave hundreds of students without a ride to school. The board meets Tuesday night to finalize the plan to save money. One of the biggest moves on the table is not replacing some 80 positions within the district. Positions on the chopping block include assistant superintendent positions and nine bus drivers. No one within the district will be at risk of losing their jobs. Instead, the positions won’t be replaced after employees retire. Roughly 300 employees already chose to take an early retirement. The district also plans to eliminate 30 bus routes next school year that will save half a million dollars per year. Four of the districts 13 high schools will be affected by the route cuts. Several parents say they were blindsided by the news. "Out here we have year round schooling, so schools going to be starting for us in July. That’s just a couple months to figure out for parents that are working how they're going to change their schedules and if they can't then these kids are left to fend for themselves,” said Sara McIntosh. The district says Sweetwater is one of a few districts that still offers bus service. Many districts cut it years ago when the state stopped requiring it. It’s only required by law for special ed students. 1469

(KGTV) -- The mother of a South Bay teen says her 16-year-old son had a disturbing encounter at a store parking lot in Eastlake.Suher Haidar said a man offered her son money for a sexual act as her son was leaving the Walmart on Eastlake Parkway on Monday."It's just gross," Haidar said. "That's the only way I can explain it."She said her son was walking to his car in the store parking lot when a man in a pickup truck waved him down to get his attention. He was trying to make small talk when the conversation shifted to the disturbing proposition. That's when her son pulled out his phone and recorded the encounter. The man drove away after her son began yelling at him and recording him."My son was just disgusted, and he did what he had to do," Haidar said. "His father and I are really proud of him for standing up for himself and being quick to pull out his phone."She posted her son's video on social media, and several people have commented to say the same person tried to start a conversation with their teenage sons. The Chula Vista Police Department says they are investigating the incident. Chipotle's latest idea to woo customers back: Bacon. The company will test both applewood smoked bacon and nachos in some cities this fall.Chipotle is working to win customers back?after a series of health scares during the past few years — most notably an E.coli outbreak in late 2015 that made 60 customers in 14 states sick.To get back on track, the company hired a new CEO, developed a new ad campaign and is experimenting with new menu items. It offered avocado tostadas and a classic Mexican chocolate milkshake in its New York City test kitchen in June.Bacon and nachos performed well in the test kitchen, said Chris Brandt, the company's chief marketing officer, in a statement on Thursday. Some Chipotle locations in Orange County, California, will offer bacon starting next month, and nachos will come to stores in Denver and Minneapolis-St. Paul in October.Chipotle is also testing new hours and deals.Through September, some Miami and Dallas restaurants are selling tacos with the purchase of a drink after 8 p.m. Those restaurants are staying open until 11 p.m. In some Philadelphia and Indianapolis stores, customers can add chips and a drink to their meal for .The turnaround appears to be working, although Chipotle suffered a setback last month, when customers got sick at a location in Ohio, sending the stock down 6%. 1367

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A new music school is open in the South Bay, teaching kids to play instruments with a less-classical approach."We're not the little old lady down the street with a metronome," says owner Mark Sheffield. He opened the School of Rock at Otay Ranch Town Center after his wife had to drive through traffic to take their son to classes in Liberty Station."Later on that evening, I asked how did it go, did you have fun? Yes, it was a blast. He loved it. We want to do that again. But we're not. But we're not ever doing that again. It was a 45-minute drive there and an hour and a half drive back," Sheffield explains. He says opening a South Bay location gives kids in that part of the county an option to learn music in a fun, modern way."The students learn music by playing it in an environment that fosters a true enjoyment for what they're doing," he says. "They're going to want to come anyway, and hang out with friends, and they're going to end up learning."School of Rock offers lessons for kids starting at age 3, no matter the skill level. There are also classes for adults. The lessons use one-on-one instruction as well as group jam sessions. They're holding a grand opening on Saturday, February 22nd. 1244

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati police, who were told a car was stolen with an infant still inside, now say that a child was never in danger and that the person who reported the car stolen lied to get a quicker response from police.Just before 10 p.m. Thursday evening, a 2010 Mercury Milan was reported stolen from a BP gas station in the 1300 block of Hopple Street with a 10-month-old infant still inside.Police caught up with two suspects in the car shortly before 11 p.m., and the suspects fled the vehicle about five miles away from where it was reported stolen.Officers did not find a child inside the vehicle, and the suspects evaded capture, police said.Cincinnati police said the person who reported the car stolen changed his story about 45 minutes into their investigation, saying the infant was not in the car when it was stolen."He stated that there's some money in the car, and that's why he told us there was a 10-month-old in the car, because he knew it would be a top priority for us if this was the case," Cincinnati Police Capt. Doug Snider said. 1066
