SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say the man shot in an officer-involved shooting downtown last weekend has died from his injuries.Leonardo Hurtado Ibarra, 25, died of his injuries at the hospital on Monday just before 10:30 p.m., SDPD said Tuesday.On Saturday, two officers in the area of 1200 6th Avenue saw Ibarra leaving a building and recognized him from a recent wanted flier regarding a robbery, according to SDPD. Police say the officers attempted to stop and talk with Ibarra but he began to walk away.RELATED: SDPD release surveillance video, body cam footage from officer-involved shooting in Downtown San DiegoPolice say Ibarra dropped the items he was carrying and "reached into his waistband." He drew an object and pointed it at an officer, prompting both officers to fire their service weapons, police added."He produced a handgun and then pointed it at the officers," said SDPD Capt. Rich Freedman over the weekend. "For fear that they were going to be shot, the officers return fire."Ibarra was hit at least once. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and was placed in the ICU with life-threatening injuries.A loaded revolver wrapped in a bandana was recovered at the scene, but police have not determined if Ibarra fired the weapon at officers.The two officers involved, identified as Jonathon Lucas and Tevar Zaki, were not injured. Both officers have been with SDPD for about four years, according to the department. Footage from a smart street light overhead and a nearby security camera were also released to the public.After SDPD's homicide unit completes its investigation, the case will be reviewed by the county District Attorney's Office to determine if the officers are subject to any criminal liability, according to police.If any policy violations are discovered, the Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an investigation.SDPD says the Shooting Review Board will evaluate the tactics used by the officers. The Community Review Board on Police Practices will also review the incident and give any recommendations.The Federal Bureau of Investigations and U.S. Attorney's Office will monitor the investigations, police added.San Diego Police could not comment further while the investigation is ongoing. 2507

The special event will take place every weekend until SeaWorld can fully open. The park's attractions will be very limited, with guests able to enjoy all outdoor animals exhibits and shows."We’re opening as an accredited zoo and you can come in and enjoy all the live animal presentations we’re world famous for like the Orca Encounter, dolphins, Sea Lions Live and all the outdoor exhibits that people love and miss," said SeaWorld Park President Marilyn Hannes..Among closed signs for indoor exhibits, game rooms and rides, guests will also notice dozens of sanitizer stations, distance markers and download codes for digital park maps spread throughout.Visitors will also be able to continue enjoying the tide pool areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Shanna Ben-Moshe says the Torrey Pines Glider Port is one of her favorite places in San Diego.But on a visit last month, she saw something that ruined the trip.“I didn’t really know what to do because I was so shocked to see that in a place that I go to all the time," Ben-Moshe said.She's talking about a remote control plane - with a Nazi swastika painted on the rudder.“My great-grandma is a holocaust survivor,” Ben-Moshe said. “She was in Auschwitz for a long time. She lost all her family.”Ben-Moshe took a picture of the plane just before she left. She shared it with Brian Blacher, who co-runs a nonprofit group called Shield of David, which fights anti-Semitism.Blacher went back to the gliderport to investigate. The plane wasn't there, but a different pilot explained that it's common for people to fly German replica warplanes.“It's hurtful," Blacher said. "We've got a big Jewish community, we've got holocaust survivors living here. He's like, 'it's a plane, what are you so upset about', kind of deal."It's unclear who flew the remote control plane, and there wasn't anyone flying those kinds of planes when ABC 10News went to the gliderport on Wednesday. Robin Marien, the flight director at the gliderport, declined to comment on the swastika plane. Across San Diego County, small business owners hoped customers would make an effort to shop local during a time when they’re hurting.“A day like this could potentially be one of the most important days for a small business,” said Joey Flores, saying Chimera, an outdoor market for clothing, records and cacti in North Park, was taking extra precautions for small business Saturday to protect people from coronavirus.In Barrio Logan, sisters Marla and Abigail Mercado went to Casa Xovi, a local gift shop filled with items celebrating the Latino community.“Supporting our local business because we want, especially in Barrio Logan, we really want the history and the culture to stay here. So even if you’re only spending ten bucks here and there, that’s money that adds up,” they said.Casa Xavi owner Xochitl Villarreal said she’s seen more customers the weekend following Thanksgiving and hopes this continues.
