SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - With growing freelance and telecommuting opportunities, more San Diegans are working from home. There are a few workflow goals to keep in mind as you step back from the office. Get dressed. This must-do is not an option for traditional office workers, who don’t have the luxury of typing reports in their pajamas. Putting on a new outfit for your day, even if it’s just jeans, can get you in the right frame of mind to start your day. Set work hours. It may be tempting to start late on days that you’re tired or busy. Maintain a distance between your work and personal lives by setting firm hours. Establish your space. If you don’t have a proper home office, this may be the time to invest in a quality chair and desk. By doing work away from the dining table, you’ll create emotional distance when it’s time to call it a day. RELATED: Co-working office spaces helping business owners thrive in San DiegoStay organized. To-do lists can help you stay on top of your workload. You’ll also want to keep track of clients or contacts. There are multiple apps to help you no matter what your job or project. Schedule friends and family. Does your mother-in-law love to drop in? Give her a window of time when it’s acceptable to stop by. The same rule applies to children who will be home when you’re working. Ditch the kitchen. When it’s time for a break, don’t automatically reach for a snack. Keep water and coffee nearby so you’re not tempted to open the fridge.RELATED: Making It in San Diego: How to convince your employer to let you telecommute 1573

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While the CDC has issued guidance for the cruise ship industry to reopen during the pandemic, the Port of San Diego says it's too soon to tell when the industry would restart locally.Friday, the CDC urged a "phased approach" to reopening the industry that has been largely shuttered since April following a no-sail order due to the pandemic. The agency says cruise lines will need to test safety protocols via mock voyages with volunteers before they can host passengers. Still, the order was the first movement on cruise ships since the CDC issued its no-sail order in March to help stop the spread of the coronavirus outbreak. Adam Deaton, Port of San Diego cruise business representative, told ABC 10News that the port will have to coordinate with cruise companies on what their next steps will be."It is too soon to say how soon sailing could resume in San Diego. Our next steps will be to coordinate with Holland America and Carnival on their plans, as they are the first few cruises on our schedule. Currently, our first scheduled cruise is Dec. 19 with Holland America’s Koningsdam. If any cruise lines request to conduct test sailings in San Diego, we will coordinate with all relevant federal, state and local agencies," Deaton said.RELATED: CDC offers framework for cruise lines to start sailing againAccording to the Port of San Diego, 70 cruises have been canceled during the 2020-21 season. There are currently 77 calls still on schedule for the port. The loss has taken 0 million in economic activity from the San Diego economy. The CDC says its guidance applies to ships that can carry at least 250 passengers in U.S. waters and operators must demonstrate adherence to testing, quarantine, and isolation, as well as social distancing for passengers and crew members.Jeff Spring, a spokesman for the Auto Club, said demand for cruises in 2021 is high, given cash incentives from the cruise lines and more flexible cancellation policies. 1981

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - With young children fast asleep in their bedroom, surveillance video shows a burglar on the prowl at a home in South Park. Just off 32nd Street, Billy McCowan woke up to a disturbing sight on Wednesday morning."Came over and saw the side door open to the garage," said McCowan.RELATED: La Mesa woman wakes up to burglar in her bedroomA look at the surveillance video revealed who had been on his property. Starting at about 8 p.m., a pickup truck pulls up and parks across from his home. At about 5 a.m., a man wrapped in a blanket emerges from the truck and walks through his front gate.McCowan believes the burglar walked through the unlocked door to a detached garage - a converted office - and grabbed an iPhone. Video shows the man roaming the property. Next up was a detached hot tub room."We had a small TV in here," said McCowan. In the video, the burglar is seen carrying that TV. Meanwhile, inside the home were McCowan's wife, and two children, ages 3 and 5. They were all asleep.Forty-five minutes after the man first arrives, the intruder is seen peering into the children's bedroom. By this time, McCowan has woken up and he's making coffee in the kitchen. The man appears to see him and ducks down, before quietly getting into his truck and driving off. It was a fortunate twist.
