President Donald Trump spoke about a bunch of subjects at his White House press briefing on Wednesday.President Trump and his Coronavirus adviser Scott Atlas spoke to the media about COVID-19 vaccines' availability, which should be made available relatively soon, Trump and Atlas said."Within the first 24 hours of the FDA's approval under emergency use, we will have vaccines delivered within the first 24 hours," Atlas said. (AP) — California authorities have returned a pet tortoise to its owner after the wandering animal was spotted in another resident's backyard.The Record Searchlight reported the 41-year-old tortoise named Dino ambled away after a storm blew open the latch on its outdoor enclosure in Red Bluff.An animal regulation officer says the tortoise was found about a half-mile (0.8 kilometers) from the home of owner Cindy Haase.Authorities used watermelon to lure the 150-pound (68-kilogram) tortoise before lifting it into a vehicle for transport.Tehama County sheriff's deputies and the state forestry and fire protection department helped return Dino to Haase.Tortoise Acres Rescue and Sanctuary owner Katie Hoffman says this is breeding season and roaming pet tortoises seeking companionship are "a daily occurrence this time of year." 856

RANCHO PENASQUITOS (KGTV) - Teens playing basketball in Rancho Penasquitos said they were robbed Saturday night. Police said during the pursuit of a car that matched the description, it crashed and rolled onto the roof.One suspect was injured from the crash as he was not wearing a seatbelt. He was trapped in the car and arrested.Police say two other suspects, identified as a black man in his 20s and a Hispanic man in his early 20s fled the vehicle.K9s searched the area for the suspects.Ed Solis, the father of one of the boys who was robbed, said it was his son's 18th birthday and they were celebrating at home.Toward the end of the party, the guys wanted to play basketball at Views West Park. They left their belongings in a pile and noticed a group of men stealing their wallets and phones.The teens went after the attempted robbers and were able to catch one. Solis said one of the men came back and threatened the boys, saying he had a gun and would "smoke them."The boys let the man go and then called Solis about the robbery. He rushed over, and found all the boys were safe and unharmed, but shaken.Officers caught up with the suspect vehicle at 14500 Penasquitos Drive where it flipped.Some of the boys got their items back, while others did not. 1319

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. — Conversations have been forced to change in children's classrooms. Many adults remember simply learning about a basic fire drill or what to do in a lockdown.But today, many teachers are having to teach kids what to do in case of an active shooter. Another safety net that is being used in places around Arizona, including Queen Creek Unified School District, is a donated, repurposed tool from the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department: fire hoses. "They're cut into a certain segment. They are perfect to go over the hinges of our doors and that just adds this extra layer of security to our classroom," said Newell Barney Middle School science teacher Tammi Brewster. Brewster explained how the recycled and donated fire hoses from the fire department become a deterrent for any "bad guys" trying to get into a classroom and are now a part of their lockdown procedure called ALICE. ALICE stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate. Brewster said that the fire hose is part of a larger conversation with students regarding school shootings. It helps explain the procedure for active shooter or lockdown drills in a way that does not scare them, but empowers them. "It gives them a relief that, 'OK, all of this is going on in the news, in our society and I have choices I can make. I don't have to sit in a corner and be scared,' '' Brewster said. "The schools have their processes and their programs in place for a lockdown," said Queen Creek Fire Chief Vance Gray. "What we wanted to do was just assist by adding another layer of protection for the teachers and the students and the schools." Gray said his two children went to one of the schools where he has donated these fire hoses.While it is a piece of equipment he never hoped he would have to pass out, he knows taking action is the only thing to do. "If you can't change the way things are and make them exactly how you want them to be, then the best thing you can do is prepare," Gray said. He said they will continue donating their fire hoses whenever they go out of service.  2169
