SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Responding to the aftermath of a disaster is a drill the San Diego Humane Society knows well.Just weeks ago the nonprofit’s Emergency Response Team was on the front lines of Hurricane Florence, helping over 100 animals; including pigs, cows, and peacocks.Lt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County recorded its first death of the flu season this week, a 52-year-old woman.County health officials say the woman had underlying medical conditions and it's not known if she had been vaccinated or not."Any death is tragic. Our condolences go out to the individual’s family," Wilma Wooten, County public health officer, said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police confirmed Monday the arrest of a Yuma, Arizona police officer on suspicion of rape.Yuma Police officer Jared Elkins, 33, was taken into custody Friday morning on Marlborough Dr. near Adams Ave. in Kensington.San Diego Police said Elkins was off duty at this time of his arrest. He is a 7-year veteran of the force, the Associated Press reported. Yuma Police are working to place Elkins on administrative leave.Elkins will be charged with rape, oral copulation, threat to do bodily harm, sex asault with a foreign object, and misdemeanor sexual assault, police said.Elkins was released on 0,000 bail Saturday and ordered to appear in court on Sept. 25. 709
