BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China is a staunch proponent of peace and stability in the South China Sea, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said in a signed article on Saturday.
He expressed China's expectation that positive and historical results could be reached at the seventh BRICS summit in July in Ufa, capital of Russia's Bashkortostan republic.
For his part, Kerry said the U.S. and China, as the two largest economies and maritime powers that lead maritime scientific research, should cooperate to tackle the tough challenges in ocean protection and its sustainable development. They should play the leading role in ocean protection through cooperation, which benefits not only both countries but also the world as a whole.
Zhang stressed that fiscal and financial cooperation should be a key area to be strengthened in the two sides' practical cooperation, and that China and Russia should launch and broaden cooperation on currency swaps as well as local currency settlement, investment and financing.
MOSCOW, June 10 (Xinhua) -- China and Russia should strengthen cooperation and exchanges between their legislative bodies so as to promote the two countries' relations, China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang said here on Tuesday.
