SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local marine is recovering from COVID-19 while deployed overseas.Jennifer Dulaney says her husband, Kyle, was deployed in April and is serving at a base in Okinawa. He tested for COVID-19 earlier this month.“My husband called me on a Monday morning as I was getting ready for work and said he felt like he was getting symptoms,” Jennifer said.Kyle got worse and was eventually sent to the ICU. His condition began to worsen that he qualified for the Remdesivir. It was described as an experimental drug, and doctors needed Jennifer’s permission to administer it to Kyle.Jennifer is a nurse and knew that COVD-19 could be very severe.“I know where COVID can go, they can spiral downwards real fast,” she said, “so for me, the benefits outweighed the risk.”Jennifer said he began to show improvement on the fifth day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A missing 16-year-old girl from Mira Mesa has been found after disappearing November 8. Cirena was found late Monday afternoon walking on a street in Salton City. A good Samaritan who saw news reports approached the 16-year-old and asked if she wanted to go to the police station, the family says. As of Tuesday morning, the family told 10News she was back home and healthy. After she went missing, the family says a missing persons report was filed. Days later, family members found Cirena’s phone tossed a few blocks away between two homes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A North Park gym owner who defied the governor's health order and moved workouts indoors was served with a violation notice from the county, threatening ,000 daily fines. Owner Frank Kole initially complied with last month's order and moved everything outdoors, but after five days made the decision to go back inside. That's because he says the sidewalks outside his gym were littered with feces, blood stains, and trash. Kole instead instituted strict rules indoors, requiring masks and social distancing. But the county, while acknowledging the tough reality outside, still served him with the violation, saying it was the law. RELATED: North Park gym moves back in after 'disgusting' outdoor workouts"I appreciate that you previously complied with the state and local orders by moving your operations outdoors and had difficulties due to the surrounding environment," said the violation letter, signed by Public Health Officer, Dr. Wilma Wooten. "I encourage you to work with the city of San Diego to see what can be done to resolve the difficulties you previously faced." On Friday, however, Kole took everything back outside. Immediately, he and his staff discovered a syringe on the sidewalk as they were setting up equipment. The city of San Diego power washed the sidewalk on Wednesday, but Kole says it was a quick job without trash pickup. "If we weren't out there cleaning that sidewalk up everyday, that needle would still be there," Kole said. A spokeswoman for the city of San Diego says environmental crews will pick up syringes with biohazard boxes when they encounter them. In the meantime, residents can report the on the city's Get-it-done App. Kole says he will comply with the order and keep the gym outside, even if it means reduced hours and more staff time moving everything in and out everyday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A local father is recovering from stab wounds after getting attacked by an intruder in his home. The man's 20-year-old son shot and killed that intruder according to San Diego Police. It happened just before 6:30 Tuesday morning at a home in the 6300 block of Lake Shore Drive in San Carlos. Neighbors heard the violence. "I heard the gunshots, it was like three or four gunshots, then screams for help immediately after," said Denise Rolla. When police got to the home, they found the suspect dead in the pool and the 54-year-old homeowner with stab wounds to the upper body. Police say the homeowner's son shot and killed the intruder, who stumbled out the back and landed in the pool. "I heard what turned out to be the suspect fall into the pool and then a couple minutes later, you could see the blood start to spread out through the pool," said Andrew Grogg, who lives right next door. There are walking paths and Mission Trails Golf Course is located behind the homes which are just southwest of Jackson Drive. Neighbors say they don't have a problem with transients in the area, but police say so far, it appears the 38-year-old suspect is homeless. His name hasn't been released. The family owns a tire shop in La Mesa. They are well known and liked in the community. "They're local business owners in the community. They're great neighbors. They're kind, they're nice," said Grogg. Police say so far, the attack appears to be random. 1472
