LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A third Los Angeles police officer has tested positive for the coronavirus and was exhibiting symptoms inside the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division station for several days this week, according to the department. The officer, who had recently returned from a vacation out of the country, was "coughing and sweating" during roll call in Central Division, which patrols areas that include downtown L.A., two of the officials said.Despite protests from several officers in the station, the affected officer was allowed to work for at least two days this week, according to the Los Angeles Times. The officer was tested for the virus, and a positive result came back Saturday, according to three law enforcement officials. Additional officers who worked with the afflicted patrol officer were expected to be quarantined, officials said.Saturday night, the LAPD reported that it had disinfected all of the officer's work spaces and common areas inside Central Division."We have also identified anyone who may have come into contact with the employee and directed them to contact their healthcare provider for evaluation," the LAPD reported. The department said it also established guidelines for all employees who either exhibit symptoms of the virus or cone in contact with someone who may be infected. However, the LAPD has not yet released those guidelines. 1395
LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A large ``Trump'' sign erected overnight on a hillside near the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass was taken down by authorities today. The sign -- consisting of white capital letters similar to the `Hollywood'' sign -- was taken down by Caltrans workers by about 9 a.m.It was not known who put the sign in place. Neither the Los Angeles Police Department nor the California Highway Patrol had any information about the sign when reached by City News Service. Freeway traffic was not affected. Lauren Wonder, chief public information officer for Caltrans, told the Los Angeles Times that the sign was on private property. For that reason, Wonder said, Caltrans workers ``laid it down so it wasn't a visual distraction'' but did not completely remove the sign, which was noticed at about 7 a.m.``This was a life and safety issue because there were concerns about distracted driving,'' Wonder said. 933

LOS ANGELES (AP) — As the coronavirus pandemic forced people to stay put, it gave sharks a travel passport and scientists a rare opportunity. Ocean spots cleared of fishing boats and other intrusions saw increased and even unusual marine life behavior, and Discovery Channel’s Shark Week jumped through hoops to capitalize on the brief window. Its 32nd annual Shark Week slate includes a pair of shows taped earlier this year during the lull. The virus-related shows are “Shark Lockdown,” airing at 10 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, and “Abandoned Waters,” airing 8 p.m. Eastern on Monday. A record 24 shows will air during Shark Week, which starts Sunday and continues through Aug. 16. 687
