SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A desperate Mira Mesa mother is pleading for tips after her teenage daughter disappeared, leaving behind a trail of disturbing clues.November 8th seemed like an ordinary Friday. Tina Camacho remembers asking her daughter Cirena Artero, 16, about her day at school."We talked, and she said her day was okay," said Camacho.Cirena is one of Camacho's five children."Around 6:45 p.m., we thought she went to her room. Around 7:30 p.m., we knew she was missing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A dog owner is making desperate plea for the return of her puppy after a burglary at her Spring Valley home."Up all night crying ... I can barely see through my eyes," said Ashley Morales.The Morales' family dog Snuffles, a 4-month old Pekachu, was inside their condo just after 9 a.m. Sunday. Two of Morales' children, ages 11 and 13, were sleeping in a bedroom when the strangers broke in. She and her husband weren't planning on being gone long. They were going to the grocery store to buy items for breakfast.Morales and her husband left the door unlocked, and that is how the intruders got in. A neighbor called them during their shopping trip to report something suspicious.When the couple got home less than an hour later, they made a terrifying discovery. Their bedroom was ransacked. A few feet away, their kids' bedroom was untouched. The door had been shut and her kids had slept through it. "We ran upstairs and hugged our kids. This could have turned out so much worse," said Morales.Deputies say the suspects were captured in a neighbor's surveillance camera, which shows them walking in and out of the condo. In one clip, a woman is seen walking out with what appears to be a television. Morales say they also got away with a box of her jewelry."Some of the jewelry my father gave me before he passed away," said Morales.But Morales says her most painful loss is her puppy, which was nowhere to be found. Morales believes the intruders took him."My dog doesn't leave anywhere. If he had gotten out, he would have stayed close to home. I felt like one of my kids was kidnapped. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A new cancer treatment is now available at the Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center.This week 31-year-old William Apodaca became the first patient in San Diego County to receive the unique form of targeted cancer therapy. Apodaca was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer three years ago when doctors found neuroendocrine tumors in his pancreas.Neuroendocrine tumors are formed in hormone-making cells. They can grow in spots like your pancreas, stomach, and intestines. “It's a rare tumor that patients can live decades with and the hope is to improve quality of life by minimizing their need for more toxic chronic therapies,” said Dr. Marin Xavier, a Medical Oncologist at Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center. RELATED: FDA approves two cancer treatments after expedited reviews“It was just devastating,” remembers Apodaca, who is also a nurse. After chemotherapy and other cancer-fighting therapies, Apodaca was finally able to try the new treatment, Lutathera, after it was FDA-approved earlier this year. Lutathera uses radioactively charged proteins to seek and attack cancer cells from the inside out. It is administered in four doses, which are given approximately every other month until they are finished. Apodaca had been traveling to Los Angeles for the treatments but was able to complete his final one in San Diego. He now has more energy and looks forward to going back to work, traveling, and getting married.“This medication is pretty much giving me a second chance at life,” said Apodaca. “Picking up the pieces of where my life was.”The drug works for two to five years, depending on how aggressive the tumors are. Patients who respond well can get retreated.Fifteen local patients have already signed up to get the new treatment and more are expected to come from other cities. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - 10 years ago, a Poway teen disappeared during a jog, and a collective sense of security was never the same. What followed were massive searches and an outpouring of support from the community. The investigation led to the arrest of the man who killed teenagers Chelsea King, 17, and Amber Dubois, 14. Carrie Cave's daughter Amber vanished in 2009 while walking to Escondido High. She planned to purchase a lamb that day and raise it as part of a school program. Her fate was revealed a year later after Poway High School senior Chelsea King went missing during a jog near Lake Hodges."I remember not being able to breathe. Your whole body is shaking," said Brent King, Chelsea's father.The evidence trail led to convicted sex offender John Gardner, who was ultimately convicted for a series of crimes, including the rape and murder of the two girls. Their bodies were recovered. After an emotional confrontation with Gardner in prison, Cave decided to forgive Gardner before he was sentenced."I got the answers about her last moments that I wanted ... I forgave him because I had another daughter to raise, and if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to live," said Cave.Cave started a search and rescue group. Her dog Amber discovered the remains of missing San Diego native and nursing student Michelle Le in the Bay Area in 2011."It was a lot to take in. I sat under a tree for two hours and cried," said Cave.That emotion is something the King family also knows well. The family channeled their grief and helped pass Chelsea's Law, a state law which enhanced sentences, parole terms and monitoring for violent sex offenders who commit crimes against children. To date, more than 2,500 offenders have been charged under Chelsea's Law."Because of Chelsea's Law, our children are safer, but that doesn't mean they're safe," said King.Besides advocating for laws, the King family's nonprofit Chelsea's Light Foundation has handed out over 0,000 in scholarships to local children. A run celebrating Chelsea's memory was held for eight years, before coming to an end.In 2014, Chelsea’s brother Tyler King directed a documentary he called “Chelsea’s Light: A Brother’s Journey.” "She is with us.
