(KGTV) — Police say they were tasked with breaking up a crowd of 50 to 100 beachgoers having a large party on Friday amid a ban on gatherings in the county due to the pandemic.Carlsbad Police say the large crowd of mostly young people was having a large party and drinking near the Rue Des Chateaux beach access point on North Ocean St. at about 6 p.m.Police said when they arrived, the crowd voluntarily dispersed and no fines were given.A witness who sent ABC 10News a photo of the scene said it's not the first time this has happened. The witness said that large gatherings and parties in their neighborhood and at the beach have become a daily occurrence. (KGTV) – A woman found dead on a Carlsbad hiking trail was stabbed to death, police revealed Tuesday.Carlsbad police said the 68-year-old white woman was walking or jogging Monday morning on the Hosp Grove Trail East, near the 2600 block of Monroe Street, when she was attacked.The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the victim, a Carlsbad resident, was stabbed to death.According to police, a tip has helped in identifying a man who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.The man was described as white or Hispanic, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a husky build and a tan complexion with dark hair. The tipster told police the man was wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and possibly a black hat.Police said the man was seen walking slowly with a slight shuffle or limp.Police noted that it is “unknown at this time if this person is related to the incident.”Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area of Hosp Grove Trail East, between 10 a.m.-12 p.m., is urged to call Carlsbad police at 760-931-2165.Police said in light of the incident, extra patrols have been assigned to the area. 1184

CEDAR PARK, TX — Three police officers were shot Sunday while responding to a call in Cedar Park, Texas, according to police.The three officers suffered non-fatal injuries while responding to the call on Sunday afternoon and are currently stable at a local hospital.The shooting began an hours-long standoff that lasted throughout the evening on Sunday and well into Monday morning. Two hostages were released from the home on Monday morning at about 8 a.m. CT. He rents the space and his home next door from the same property management company. But this fall, when he called to ask about his lease, he instead got a 60-day notice to vacate."It was complete and utter shock because there was not even a hint of anything wrong going on," Christopher said.He acknowledges the owner has the right to end the lease, but 60 days to move his home and his business is overwhelming. When he asked the owner for an extension, he got an even surprising response."The property manager rep said do not contact him again, if you do, we consider it harassment and we'll give you a 3-day notice. But it's not personal, it's just business," Christopher says.Christopher started a GoFundMe to help with legal fees and is asking his customers to contact the city for help. He's hopeful he can still write a happy ending to this chapter of his life."We're not being unreasonable," Christopher said.
