SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Port of San Diego is kicking off another season of Waterfront Summer service.The service, which is now in its seventh season, provides transportation along the waterfront for per day.The shuttle, provided by the Port, will connect visitors and residents to businesses and attractions along the waterfront.According to the Port, the shuttle runs on a loop every 20 minutes from the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island to Harbor Drive Bridge with several stops in between.The shuttle will run every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the summer season. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — This year, San Diego Comic-Con won't draw the same long lines, crowded corridors, or bustling downtown streets that have become synonymous with the yearly pop culture convention.But organizers hope it'll still draw the same enthusiasm online as in-person in the form of Comic-Con@Home.This year's convention is being held entirely online for free from July 22 to July 26 — ensuring fans get the chance to interact with their favorite fandoms and, of course, absolutely no lines.And the same spirit of exciting panels, creative cosplayers, and exclusive collectibles are set to take the virtual stage.HOW TO WATCHAll five days of SDCC programming will be made available online on Comic-Con's website to stream. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Three years ago Former San Francisco 49er’s quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand during the National Anthem. It started during the 2016 preseason games. The first three games he sat on the bench and then in a game against the San Diego Chargers, he took his first knee during the National Anthem. On Wednesday, Kaepernick recognized the three year anniversary by taking to his Twitter account saying, “Today marks the three year anniversary of the first time I protested systemic oppression. I continue to work and stand with the people in our fight for liberation.” In October 2017, Kaepernick filed a Collusion Grievance against the NFL and team owners In February 2018, they settled the case. Kaepernick has been without an NFL contract since the end of the 2016 season. 810

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego Police Departments K9 officers and their handlers were honored at the unveiling of the new K9 Memorial Dedication Ceremony Wednesday afternoon. They don’t carry weapons. Often times, they are the weapon.“We’ve had several dogs injured, stabbed, and shot,” Lt. Tony Lessa of the San Diego Police K9 Unit said. “Fortunately, only one was killed in the line of duty.”Since 1984, ninety-two San Diego Police K9’s have served alongside their handlers. They enter themselves into dangerous situations for the good of the community. Many said their value is immeasurable. “They improve officer safety for out officers in a way that they reduce the use of force we have to use,” Lt. Lessa said. “You can’t put a number on that.”That is why a new Memorial wall was built for the specialized unit. Sitting at the helm is a bronze statue of German Shepard Bando, who was struck by a car and killed in the line of duty in 1994. Underneath his statue are the names of several K9’s and their handlers.Patsy Samson was the main donor for the San Diego Police Foundation. She worked with the organization for eight months until finally unveiling the memorial today.“They love their K9’s,” Samson said. “They take care of their K9’s. They just want to do the best you can do for the community that they protect and serve, every single day.”Whether it’s their cuteness on their time off, or their fierce abilities to bring down criminals, the K9’s officers have a special place in hearts. For that, like their human counterparts, their work will never be forgotten. “Their name is going to live on here for eternity,” Lt. Lessa said.  1677

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The world-famous San Diego Zoo has a new Balboa Park rival for the best view of pandas.An IMAX original film, Pandas, is now showing at the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater at the Fleet Science Center.The movie follows a cross-culture collaboration between an American biologist, a scientist from Inner Mongolia and a very curious female panda cub named Qian Qian.Museum visitors can join Qian Qian as she takes her first steps outside her protected habitat.Pandas is narrated by Kristen Bell and rated G.Get information about tickets and showtimes HERE. 580
