FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- A woman whose 10 children were removed from a home authorities described as filthy denied Monday that she or her husband abused or neglected the children.Ina Rogers, 30, told reporters Monday that all the children slept in one bedroom together because they wanted to.Rogers also said he feels as though she’s being judged for having so many children and choosing to home-school them.RELATED: Parents accused of shackling their 13 children in Perris home expected to appear in court  She added that she’s surprised at the accusations against her husband, Jonathan Allen, because he wasn’t the disciplinarian of the family. Police in Fairfield arrested Allen, 29, on charges that include torture and abuse."There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing," Rogers said Monday. "My kids get bumped and bruised and scratched because they're kids but that's it."PHOTOS: Turpin family's former Texas home had human feces on walls, owner saysThe children were removed from the home on March 31 after Rogers reported that her oldest child was missing. She said he ran away after she took away his tablet and computer. Upon returning the child, Fairfield police Lt. Greg Hurlbut said he found the nine other children living in "squalid and unsafe conditions."Rogers was arrested and later released after posting bail. Allen was also arrested after specialists conducted interviews with the children. He is being held on .5 million bail. The home was described by reporters as messy with scuffed walls and animal feces in the bathroom. The children slept on cots in the bedroom because they were close, Rogers said.Child protection officials made one prior visit to the home, Rogers said. Aleida Quartman, 23, said she was a co-worker at a heart device monitoring company.Quartman said Rogers’ messy house was just life with children, cats, a dog and a fish. "She told me she's never lived alone and now that her kids are gone and her husband is gone, she's just a mess," Quartman said.Allen’s mother said she spoke to Rogers about the dirty condition of the home, saying it was important to keep a clean home. 2149

Elliott Broidy, a venture capitalist and fundraiser for President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, is suing Qatar, saying they planted news stories in national newspapers that smeared him.Broidy alleges the Middle Eastern nation targeted him because of his ties to its rival, United Arab Emirates, and his criticism of Qatar. He says operatives from the country hacked his emails, fabricated some of their details and leaked them to major news outlets, resulting in negative news stories over the last month about international connections he had and ties to Russian companies. The complaint -- and those news stories central to Broidy's allegations -- touch on a possible thread of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, which is looking into foreign influence around some top Trump officials. The embassy of Qatar said the lawsuit is an attempt to divert attention from media reports and is without merit."Mr. Broidy's lawsuit is a transparent attempt to divert attention from US media reports about his activities," a statement from Jassim Al-Thani, Media Attache for the State of Qatar in Washington DC, said."His lawsuit is without merit or fact. It is Mr. Broidy, not Qatar, who orchestrated nefarious activities designed to influence Congress and American foreign policy. It does not matter how many venues Mr. Broidy publishes his false accusations in, they will not become truth," the statement said.  1427

ESCONDIDO (CNS) - An argument between two men at a northern San Diego County gym Tuesday turned into a baseball bat assault that sent one of them to a hospital, authorities said.A bystander made a 911 call shortly after 9 a.m. to report the fracas outside LA Fitness in the 300 block of West El Norte Parkway in Escondido, according to police.Witnesses told officers the dispute started as a quarrel inside the business, Sgt. Mike Graesser said. The bickering men eventually made their way outside the gym, at which point one of them went to his car, retrieved a bat and attacked the victim with it, hitting him on the head at least once, Graesser said. The attacker then got into the vehicle, a black sedan, and drove off.Medics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.The assailant remained at large Tuesday afternoon, though police had "a pretty good idea who he is," according to Graesser, who noted that a witness videotaped the assault."We have some good leads," the sergeant said. 1056
