On World Autism Awareness Day, Monday, April 2, Pennsylvania theme park Sesame Place announced that it was the first theme park in the world to complete training to become a Certified Autism Center (CAC). The park's certification was granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). IBCCES says that Sesame Place is "the first theme park in the world to receive such a distinction."Sesame Place is located at 100 Sesame Road in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. The park features rides, shows, parades, and full size characters and opens for the season on April 28 at 10:00 a.m.The Sesame team members were trained in sensory awareness, motor skills, autism overview, program development, social skills, communication, environment, and emotional awareness, so that staff members can cater to all guests who visit the park.One of the most helpful outcomes of this certification is the IBCCES?Sensory Guide, which breaks down each of the rides' stimuli. This guide grades the rides in terms of touch, taste, sound, smell, and sight stimulation. The senses are scored from 1, which is a low stimulation, to 10, which is a high stimulation.The park has quiet rooms for guests needing to recover from sensory stimulation from the rides. They also have noise-canceling headphones, or WhispEars, on a first come, first served basis for guests with hearing sensitivity. OTAY MESA (CNS) - Border Patrol agents stopped a car in Otay Mesa and arrested five people, including a man who claimed to be a national guardsman from California, for alleged human smuggling, a Customs and Border Protection officer said Saturday.Around 3:45 p.m., Border Patrol agents stopped a car near the intersection of Alta Road and Otay Mesa Boulevard, according to Customs and Border Protection Officer Ralph Desio. The area is about a mile north of the U.S.-Mexico border.Agents interviewed the five people inside the car, all men, and determined two were U.S. citizens and the other three were undocumented Mexican nationals, Desio said.The driver of the car claimed to be a California National Guardsman in the process of separating from the service, according to Desio. California National Guard spokesman Lt. Col Jonathan Shirmo, however, told City News Service that the man was not a national guardsman, and was believed to be a U.S. Army reservist.The Army could not be immediately reached for comment.The five were all arrested, and the two citizens could face charges of human smuggling, Desio said.The three undocumented people were being held as witnesses in the case and will later face deportation proceedings, according to Desio. 1264

OAXACA, Mexico (KGTV) - At least 13 people were killed and 15 others were injured after a helicopter crashed while surveying damage from Mexico's 7.2-magnitude earthquake Friday.The victims, all of whom were on the ground at the time of the crash, included five women, four men, and three children, according to the Associated Press.  The Oaxaca state prosecutor's office said another victim died at a nearby hospital.The group of people had reportedly been spending the night in an open field following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Mexico's southern state Friday, the AP reported.RELATED: 7.2-magnitude earthquake strikes southern MexicoThe helicopter was reportedly carrying Mexico’s interior minister and Oaxaca Gov. OCEANSIDE (CNS) - Two cars overturned into an embankment off Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton Sunday, but the people inside both vehicles were able to escape without serious injuries.A silver car lost control and sideswiped another car on northbound I-5 past Las Pulgas Road shortly after 11 a.m., California Highway Patrol dispatchers were told.Several drivers pulled over to help, and the people inside both cars were able to get out before CHP officers and fire personnel got to the scene, according to a CHP incident log.At least one person was hurt, but the injuries were described as minor. 609
