SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One week later, San Diego Police Homicide Detectives made an arrest in a homicide case in a Mountain View neighborhood. On Sunday, May 6, 2018 police units responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting at 500 S. 40th St. When the initial units arrived on-the-scene, they found a 33-year-old black male and a 37-year-old black male, both lying on the ground.According to police, both males suffered from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Both victims were later transported to the hospital but, were later pronounced deceased.The victims have been identified as Tony Jackson, 33, and Robert Brown, 37.Family friends said they were fun, caring men who had families and young children of their own. After a preliminary investigation by the San Diego Police Homicide Detectives, they determined that a black male, wearing dark clothing walked up to the victims, who were standing in front of the Rec Center at 500 S. 40th St., and began shooting.There has been a high police presence since the shooting, according to neighbors.San Diego Police Homicide Detectives identified the suspect as Shannon Bryant, 29, of San Diego. Bryant faces charges in connection to the murder of both Jackson and Brown. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One young man was named the newest recruit of the San Diego Police Department Wednesday.SDPD's newest officer, five-year-old Liam, was sworn in by Chief David Nisleit as part of a ceremony hosted by the department and Make-A-Wish San Diego.Liam, who was born with a congenital heart defect, began his first day on the beat soon after his ceremony. He and his partner received a call to help capture a bank robber. Bank of America also partnered with Make-A-Wish to offer up a location for a bank robbery and arrest scene, where the two cops took in the suspect.Liam and his partner then returned to police headquarters to interview the suspect.The Make-A-Wish event was held just one day before the department celebrates its 130th anniversary. 770

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Pacific Beach alone relies on over 4,000 hospitality workers, often working overnight hours.Safety concerns while on the job, closing up, or walking home are an unfortunate reality of the industry.“When you’re out there, and it’s dark, and you can’t see any one thing around you, I can’t tell you how vulnerable you feel, because you’re constantly looking around you," said Marian Novak, Director of the Responsible Hospitality Coalition.Novak has worked in Pacific Beach since 1991 and currently does responsible beverage training for servers.She and other hospitality workers signed up for a three-hour class with IMPACT Personal Safety, a nonprofit based out of Los Angeles committed to ending the cycle of violence.Organized by Discover Pacific Beach, workers were able to learn verbal strategies, awareness skills, and fighting skills.“When people are intoxicated, they literally don’t make the right decisions," said Lisa Gaeta, founder of IMPACT Personal Safety. “Our philosophy is that once you know you can physically defend yourself, then it’s easier to talk your way out. If you're a Comic-Con mega fan, patience is a vital part of the experience. Many slept on the grassy courtyard for hours, just to claim a seat inside the coveted Hall H. Fans say they can't get enough. "I've been a fan since the first season came out," Superfan, Marvin Calderon said. "I'm also a fan of the comic books."Calderon showed us his right arm.
