(KGTV) -- Neighbors in Del Cerro say an intersection near their homes is a hot spot for accidents and speeding, with the latest incident occurring Monday night.The streets and intersection in question are Madra Avenue and Del Cerro Boulevard. Denisse Newell took cell phone video during the aftermath of Monday’s accident. Newell says she’s reached out to City of San Diego officials to ask that something be done to make drivers slow down.Another neighbor, Emily Broadwater, says she was involved in an accident at the intersection in 2018 after a man didn’t stop at the stop sign. Her minivan was totaled.Newell says her dog was also hit by a speeding car and survived the accident. Her husband has stopped walking their children to school after multiple close calls. Neighbors worry that the next time it’ll be a person. The women say they’d like the city to implement like speed bumps, a stoplight or roundabouts to get drivers to slow down.ABC 10News reached out to San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman’s office, who represents the district. (KGTV) - As COVID-19 cases continue to increase nationwide, the demand for testing grows.CVS Pharmacy has been providing free drive-thru testing sites across San Diego County, but some have reported significant delays in receiving test results.“I thought I would try CVS because they’re popping up all over for free testing and very convenient drive-thru,” said San Diego resident Michelle Naidenoff.“It’s a self-administered test, had the test done, was given a sheet originally it said 2-4 days for results, and then they had crossed it out the time of the testing and said it could be up to 10 days.”Ten days later, Naidenoff still had no answers.“Then, on the 16th day, I called, and I was on hold a couple of times,” she said after being left on hold for too long, she hung up.Five hours later, Naidenoff said her negative test result popped up on the online website.“16 days, I’m thinking it’s basically useless,” she said. “When it comes to slowing the virus down, obviously contact tracing is very important. The fact that they would have such poor quality of care for follow up was alarming.”According to CVS, all patient samples collected through the testing sites are sent to off-site locations. The independent, third-party labs are then responsible for processing and delivering the results, according to CVS. SAN DIEGO - At St. John The Evangelist's Sunday night service, the pews were packed to hear why their pastoral associate was resigning.Aaron Bianco was asked to come to St. John August of 2016. His work for the San Diego church: organizing events, budgets and other behind the scenes tasks. His goal, to build up a more inclusive church.Bianco has been married to his husband for 10 years last month, and once he started at St. John, so did the attacks."They've threatened me from shooting me down across the street, to throwing Molotov cocktails into the church," Bianco said.The hate groups sent emails equating him to a pedophile and threatening him. His tires were slashed, fire thrown at the church doors, the office broken into and spray painted with a gay slur."They're no different from organized crime or a terrorist group. They will continue until they get their way," Bianco said their goal was to force him out. "I'm convinced that the gospel is on my side, and they can spew their hate, but I'm not going to allow them to make me hate them back," Bianco said.Last week his personal information including photos of his family and his home address was published on a conservative Catholic website. Bianco said he saw someone in their yard in the middle of the night watching the house.Since the threats, he's added security to his home and filed police reports.He realized it was all too much, "My life and those of my family are more important than any job."Bianco addressed the packed church at Sunday night's mass, "when hate rages like a fire, love rains down, and I feel it from so many of you in this room."Bianco said he believes there is more good in the world than bad, explaining he's received encouraging notes from people all over the world.After his speech, the church erupted, "It made me so happy that everybody stood there and clapped for the longest ovation I've ever heard in a church in my life. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A California state appeals court has thrown out the sole conviction against an immigrant who fatally shot a woman on the San Francisco waterfront in 2015.The 1st District Court of Appeal on Friday overturned a gun conviction against Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate because the judge failed to instruct the jury on one of his defenses.Garcia-Zarate was acquitted of murder in the killing of Kate Steinle, who was on a pier with her father when she was shot in the back in July 2015.The case of Garcia-Zarate, who was in the country illegally and had been deported five times, touched off a fierce immigration debate.He said he unwittingly picked up the gun wrapped in a T-shirt and it fired accidentally.Garcia-Zarate is in custody and facing federal gun charges. 783
