She was seriously injured in an accident more than 10 years ago and then hit by a car while running 18 months ago."Twenty-one surgeries in total, (Black) was told she may never walk again," says McCann Black, Whitney's brother. "I’m just so proud of her, watching her set these goals and then blow through them has helped our family a great deal."Today, 13.1 miles into her very first full marathon, Black married her “sole mate,” Phillips. Phillips, by the way, has had quite a journey of his own, losing around 100 pounds.Friends and family waited near the 13.1 mile marker with balloons, a veil, rings and an officiant until Black and Phillips ran up to the makeshift altar."I promise to trust you even when we deviate from our grocery list," Black vowed."I will choose you every day, not because I have to, but because I want to," Phillips said.Their vows were short and sweet. The ceremony lasted about five or six minutes. The couple said getting married in the midst of their first marathon was a perfect setting for their relationship."We challenge each other to do better in every way," Black said, then she toasted her new husband with a shot of Gatorade and the two rejoined the race.  Crossing the finish line as husband and wife and committing to stay by each other's side for the long run."To see my baby sister getting married, it’s a lot to take in, but I’m just so happy for her," Black's brother said. 2044

DENVER -- If you're planning to do any holiday travel, you should book your tickets now, according to AAA.The travel agency projects millions of Americans will be traveling this holiday season, capping off a record year for travel.Thanksgiving Day is just 64 days away and Skyler McKinley with AAA recommends to start booking airline and hotel tickets. "What you really must do is examine long-term trends and when it comes to booking holiday travel: that's Thanksgiving, that's Christmas, that's New Years. You need to book that now," said McKinley. Airline ticket prices will start to go up as it gets closer to Thanksgiving. McKinley said while travel search engine sites can give you options, going to a travel agent may be better. "This day in age, you might think, 'Hey I should go online. It might be easier and cheaper.’ But travel agents generally don't charge for their services, and they got their expertise because they do this all the time," McKinley said.Resorts in the Caribbean may be having deals right now due to hurricane Irma, but AAA recommends to do your homework on the region and resort to make sure everything is operational before booking. “If you see these really good deals, that you can’t believe. DENVER – A man has been detained after he drove his car through a crowd of protesters calling for justice in the Breonna Taylor case outside the Colorado State Capitol late Wednesday night. Denver was one of several cities where demonstrators gathered following Wednesday's grand jury decision in the Taylor case. Video from AIRTRACKER7, as well as from reporters on the ground, showed a small crowd of protesters surrounding the parked vehicle and blocking the man's way, at times banging on the hood of the car, before the driver accelerated and drove his vehicle through demonstrators. 596

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - Polo spectators will enjoy a new venue this month as the San Diego Polo Classic moves to the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The event, previously held on the beach at the Hotel Del Coronado, will take space Sept. 28 at the Del Mar Arena. Two games will take place, including one pitting the Porsche San Diego team against an all-Hawaiian Tommy Bahamas team. During a polo match, players on horseback try to hit as many goals as possible. Each team has four players. The match is broken into four time periods called chukkas, each lasting seven minutes. Much of the sport is about what happens off the field. The San Diego Polo Classic will feature a fascinator hat contest, Porsche vehicles on display, and a Tommy Bahamas fashion show.
