It's time to celebrate one of the region's most important industries.From Nov. 3 to 12, San Diego Beer Week will celebrate the region's ever-popular beer scene and culture throughout the county with ten days worth of events on tap.For those thinking the week is just another round of beer events, consider the impact beer has on San Diego. According to the San Diego Brewer's Guild, the region is home to more than 130 craft breweries. That industry generated an estimated 1 million in 2015 and employed 4,512 workers, according to the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation.So, yeah, it's a pretty big deal.The week kicks off at Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier with the 15th Annual Guild Fest, featuring more than 60 of the region's breweries.Excited? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Hundreds of homeless individuals remain evacuated at SDCCU Stadium after heavy rains flooded an East Village shelter this week, forcing them to leave.Flooding Thursday night overturned portable restroom facilities at the Alpha Project facility, turning the ground into a swamp of feces and human waste and inundating tents meant to house the homeless from the storm.Saturday, those evacuated remained at the Mission Valley stadium. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For the first time Tuesday, 12-year-old Kiera Latulippe faced the man who killed her entire family in a drunk driving crash. The Valley Center girl was in the car with her family headed to the Austin, Texas, airport after vacation when the drunk driver hit their car head-on. Her father, Scott; mother, Nancy, and 14-year-old brother, Jackson, all died. Kiera was the only one to survive. On Friday, Guy Brasted was sentenced to 18 years in prison. After the sentencing, Kiera and her uncle and legal guardian, Mark Latulippe, took the stand with an emotional message for Brasted. "It made me miss out on so much, like daddy daughter dances," Kiera said, listing the things she can't do now that her family has been ripped away from her. Brasted had a blood alcohol level more than double the legal limit at the time of the crash."My brother, Jackson, and I had something I can never have with someone else, and it kills me to know I will never have that feeling with anyone else. Everyday I think about him," Kiera said.Since the accident happened two years ago, Latulippe has taken his niece into his own care."I can't replace, I'm a fill-in parent for someone who has tragically had everything robbed from her in one moment," Latulippe says.Latulippe is a CHP officer for California Highway Patrol. He says he now shares his story to prevent drunk drivers from getting behind the wheel, not only as an officer but now, as a victim. 1713

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Every December, for just two nights, Balboa Park twinkles with thousands of lights and just as many visitors to celebrate the holidays.December Nights will cover the park in holiday cheer on Dec. 6, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Dec. 7, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. The park will be filled with light displays, bands and performances, attractions, shopping, and delicious foods from the park's International Cottages to Spanish Village.The massive celebration is ranked the fifth best holiday festival in the U.S. by USA Today readers and is the largest free event in San Diego, attracting about 360,000 visitors.RELATED: San Diego holiday tree lightings to catch this seasonAnother big draw to the celebration: participating museums offer free admission from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Despite not being on the state's watch list, San Diego County leaders warn it could be a matter of days before the region joins 19 other counties being monitored for rising coronavirus cases.Wednesday, County leaders and health officials mapped out the path that will result in the county avoiding or making California's County Monitoring List.
