The signed dollar was handed to Allen at the Ceremonial First Pitch, a day after the 22-year-old made his Major League debut at Petco Park. Allen's debut performance on the Major League mound Tuesday was nothing short of stellar. Off the mound, he also hit a single to right field, helping his own cause in a 4-1 victory for the Padres. He moved from San Diego to the big island two years ago for his fiance, who is attending pharmacy school.He said the bands of weather leading up to the brunt of the storm started hitting faster, leaving shorter windows of respite."It looks like it might be coming back pretty soon I don’t think I want to stand out here too long," Bohn said. "The floodwaters have completely destroyed the Bayfront. The downtown road area, there’s no access there whatsoever the cops have blocked that off."He's an occupational therapist and told 10News he was making calls earlier in the day, checking on his clients and ensuring they didn't need medications or help evacuating.He said emergency crews patrolled the area about every 45 minutes, keeping everyone safe. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - USD head men’s basketball coach Lamont Smith is free Wednesday pending an investigation on domestic violence charges in San Francisco.The San Francisco Police Department released Smith's mugshot from Sunday's arrest. Smith was taken into custody at the Oakland airport just before the team was set to fly home from a game.Smith is accused of three domestic violence charges involving a woman at the team's hotel late Saturday night. San Diego (KGTV)- A new affordable housing building with studio- style apartments will be coming soon to East Village. The building will be used to house the homeless. City leaders and developers broke ground on the project this morning. “Every time we get the chance to break ground on another supportive housing opportunity means that we’re going to be able to help dozens of San Diegans who need that supportive services and housing,” says Council Member Chris Ward. The building will have over 70 units for people who have experienced homelessness. There will be at least a dozen more units for those who earn 50% or less of the median average income in San Diego. The 7-story building, which includes parking, will have a glass-encased lobby, community room, laundry facilities, and counseling offices. The project aligns with the mayor’s budget proposal. In the plan, .2 million will be used for homeless programs. City leaders say combating this issue is a priority and San Diegans could see more housing, like The Link building, in the future. “If we can do this one project at a time, we can actually get to the number of units that we need in 2 years to house all of the unsheltered, chronic homeless that we see every day,” says Ward.Developers hope to have the project done by early 2021. 1312
