SAN DIEGO (KGTV and CNS) -- A suspected arsonist was arrested for allegedly starting a series of brush fires in Otay Mesa West, Sunday afternoon. MAST (Metro Arson Strike Team) investigators booked 49 year-old Ramon Guevara for arson.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the blaze broke out just after 10:30 near 4th Avenue and Private Road. The fires were ignited in the valley at Otay Valley Regional Park.Crews say at least 10 spot fires started along the road and, as of 12:30 p.m., and had burned three acres. Sunday marked the third day in a row small brush fires popped up in the area. Units from the Chula Vista and San Diego fire departments and two firefighting helicopters joined to battle the flames. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A deceased whale was found by lifeguards floating off the coast of San Diego Thursday.San Diego Fire Rescue Lifeguards at Black's Beach spotted the dead whale floating about two to three miles off Sumner Canyon.Lifeguards responded to the gray whale, found to be about 30 feet in length and show obvious sounds of bloating and decomposition, according to SDFD spokesperson Monica Mu?oz.RELATED: Humpback whale feeding frenzy off San Diego's coastSDFD lifeguards are working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to secure samples of the whale carcass and figure out what disposal options are available.It wasn't immediately clear what led to the whale's death. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A fire broke out inside a shopping center in San Diego’s Talmadge neighborhood early Sunday morning. Crews say the blaze broke out inside an alteration shop around 1 a.m. Sunday at the corner of El Cajon Boulevard and Menlo Avenue. Owner Anne Chan says she was in shock after receiving a phone call hours after he store went up in flames. "My neighbor called me. Chan says she open AA Fashion four years ago. This is her second alteration business. She tells 10News she owned a store in another location for 20 years, then retired. After taking a few years off she opened this store. "I came back to work because I love to sew." According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, no one was inside the business at the time of the fire. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A beloved comic book is making a comeback, 13 years after disappearing off the shelves.San Diego artist Dennis Caco created Max Boost! in 1998, the original Import Tuner racing comic. "I just love creation. Creation has always been my thing. I love being very creative, making things from something to nothing," said Caco. "We were ridiculed and made fun of, but the performance was there!" says Caco. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A European carrier is hoping to transform the way Southern California travels between major cities.FlixBus will start offering service to 10 Southern California cities, including in San Diego, beginning May 31. The service, which has operated within Europe since 2013, is hoping to carve out a presence with discounted ticket prices and some high-tech additions.For a limited time, travelers can snag fares from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for as low as on select dates throughout June, according to the service's website.
