CINCINNATI -- Police have identified a suspect in the theft of a butterfly from the Krohn Conservatory.Jamie Revis, of Springfield Township, is wanted on a charge of theft, Cincinnati police announced Friday. Earlier, police said someone stole a blue morpho butterfly from the conservatory's butterfly show April 15.The species is native to Central and South American forests.University of Cincinnati biology professors Stephen Matter and Patrick Guerra said last week that the butterfly was likely dead, given its biological need for a warmer climate than the one Cincinnati has experienced at the time. 622

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed before crashing into the side of a building in Chula Vista Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the initial call came in around noon as a drunk driver. Witnesses reported seeing a man in a tan SUV slumped over and followed him.Police say the SUV then slammed into a gate and crashed into the side of a self-storage building traveling roughly 10 to 15 miles per hour on Industrial Boulevard near L Street.When police arrived, they discovered that the man was dead inside the vehicle. Police confirmed later in the day Wednesday that the man was shot. Shortly before the crash, witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots. Investigators are currently working to get surveillance video from the self-storage facility. Police are also asking that anyone with information on a possible suspect contact them.  932

Then a "thank you" bonus.Now, Kroger employees will have to be satisfied with gradual increases in wages and benefits.CEO Rodney McMullen said Thursday that Kroger will not re-instate the popular hazard-pay benefits it announced in March and continued into June.This despite continued calls by union officials to bring back the -per-hour wage boost that Kroger and other grocery chains had been paying their essential workers.Kroger held its annual meeting Thursday, an event in which McMullen usually fields questions from local reporters. This year, McMullen agreed to talk by phone, saying that the company will see some permanent changes from the global pandemic that caused food shortages, surging revenue, binge buying and changes in consumer spending habits.Kroger's local employment increased 33% to 20,000 since the pandemic began, while the company hired 100,000 people nationwide.McMullen expects Kroger’s total employment — which peaked at 560,000 — to remain above 500,000 going forward. He also expects digital sales to remain at higher levels than the company achieved prior to COVID-19.And he believes the company will benefit from a permanent shift toward eating at home.“What we’re finding is people enjoy cooking more than they thought they would — at least, that’s what they’re telling us,” McMullen said. “They especially enjoy doing it with their kids, because it gives you a reason to spend time together. If your kids are happy, you’re happy.”McMullen also foresees a permanent shift towards higher wages, even if it doesn’t come in the form of hazard pay.“We had planned on incrementally investing 0 million a year in wages,” he said. “This year, that’ll end up being 0 million, and that’s brought our average hourly rate to higher than . (KGTV) — A Chula Vista homeowner encountered an intruder as she was getting dressed in her bedroom, before giving chase.Russell Buckley was alerted to his Ring doorbell video around 6:45 a.m. Friday. A person in a red hoodie was lurking near the front door of his home off Otay Lakes Road, while Buckley was out of town on business."Tried to text my wife to let her know someone was in front of my house," said Buckley.About 25 minutes later, he got another alert. The video showed his wife screaming, as she chased that same man across their lawn."Absolute panic," said Buckley.He phoned his wife Victoria and learned what happened. She was in her bedroom getting dressed while their housekeeper was working in the house. His wife had just put on her shoes when the door opened. A young man with a red hoodie walked in. "She screamed. He screamed and turned around and ran back down the stairs," said Buckley.As he ran, her fear turned into rage."How dare you come into my home ... She has a protective instinct," said Buckley.His petite, 52-year-old wife - all of five feet tall - gave chase."From what I'm told, he dove across the counter and out the window," said Buckley.Buckley showed us a shattered kitchen window, which he says was both the entry and exit point. He says his wife ran out the front door and sprinted toward the intruder, screaming."At one point, she's able to grab him," said Buckley.She tugged at a pillowcase he was holding, stuffed with her daughter's jewelry, but the man got away and into a getaway car - a silver sedan. Buckley is grateful his wife was not hurt, fand still shaking his head over her leap into action."Told her it wasn't the wisest decision, but I'm very proud of her. It was a fight or flight instinct, and more of a fight for her," said Buckley. Buckley says among the items stolen: a gold Chilean communion medallion in his wife's family for more than a century. Police told the Buckleys four young men were recorded in the neighborhood stealing license plates right before the break-in. (KGTV) - Two girls were hit and injured by a pickup truck in Chula Vista Monday afternoon, officers said.The crash happened about 3:45 p.m. on East H Street at Terra Nova Drive, just east of Interstate 805. The location is near a shopping center with a Taco Bell and Jack in the Box, and Clear View Elementary School. Ambulances rushed the girls, who appeared to be teenagers, to Rady Children’s Hospital. They were both conscious, according to Chula Vista Police.The driver of the silver Toyota Tacoma who hit the girls stopped, police said. There was no immediate report that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.A witness told police the driver had the green light at the time of the crash.10News is monitoring breaking developments. 771
