Two students were injured after a gun accidentally discharged at a school in Fulton County, Georgia on Thursday.Police received reports of a loud pop coming from a classroom at Banneker High School just before 3:30 p.m.According to a spokesperson with Fulton County Schools, a bullet hit a female student in the ankle, and also grazed another student. Both students were treated for minor injuries, according to the spokesperson.Officials say officers searched the classroom and found a low-caliber handgun hidden in a box. It's believed the weapon was brought on school property in a book bag by a student, according to the school spokesperson.The spokesperson added that "the investigation into this incident is ongoing and the [Fulton County Schools Police Department] plans to file criminal charges against everyone involved in this incident in accordance with District policy."Three students will face charges in the incident. One student is being charged with one count possession of a weapon and one count of a weapon on campus. Two students are being charged with reckless conduct because of their contact with the weapon.The spokesperson told CBS46 the gun did not belong to the injured students.No bags of any kind are being allowed into the school building on Friday.  1297

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. (KGTV) - A military servicemember has been charged in connection with the shooting death investigation of a Navy medic on a Southern California military base. ABC10 News investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner first broke the story in 2019 after learning that the sudden death of 30-year-old HM3 Michael Vincent De Leon was being investigated as a homicide, not a suicide, like the family said they were led to believe.De Leon was a Navy corpsman, commonly known as a medic. He died last summer on the Twentynine Palms Marine military base, which is located a few hours northeast of San Diego. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Marines sent ABC10 News the following statement:“As you might know, this incident is still under investigation. I can confirm, however, that charges have been preferred against one of the individuals for dereliction of duty resulting in death and dereliction of duty. A hearing is not scheduled at this time. The other individuals are being investigated. (KGTV) -- Two people died early Sunday morning after a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into another vehicle shortly after a pursuit.The incident began when Valley Center Sheriff’s Deputies located a Honda Accord reported stolen out of Escondido.Deputies began pursuing the vehicle but, due to weather conditions and speed, decided to end the pursuit.RELATED: CHP investigates scene of fatal wrong-way crash on I-5 off-rampAuthorities continued to track the suspect using areal support.
