(CNS) - Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl was spotted dining outdoors at a restaurant in Santa Monica hours after voting to uphold a ban on outdoor dining due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, it was reported Monday.Kuehl had dinner at Il Forno Trattoria on Tuesday, soon after voting to uphold the county's new restrictions that were announced two days before, according to Fox11, which said it received multiple tips. SANTA ANA (CNS) - A man who drove drunk and veered into oncoming traffic while making a turn, slamming head-on into a minivan and killing a mother of three in Lake Forest, was convicted today of second-degree murder.William Joseph Carroll, 51, of Mission Viejo, had a blood-alcohol level of about 0.23 -- nearly three times the legal limit -- when his Ford F- 250 pickup truck slammed into a Toyota Sienna minivan driven by 36-year-old Ana Martinez about 11:40 p.m. May 7, 2013, Deputy District Attorney Daniel Feldman told jurors during the trial.Martinez, who was driving to work at the time, was "crushed to death" in the crash, Feldman said.The prosecutor said Carroll was making a left turn from El Toro Road to Santa Margarita Parkway in Lake Forest when he veered into oncoming traffic.A witness told investigators that Carroll ran a red light, he said. Witnesses "describe Mr. Carroll's truck like a train out of nowhere," Feldman said, adding that the force of the collision was like "100 mph" when combining the speeds of both vehicles.Carroll's attorney, Sara Ross, told jurors it was " a case of government overreach." Ross acknowledged that Carroll was "responsible for the killing of Ana Martinez, but he's not guilty of murder."Both drivers attempted to avoid each other, she said, adding that the intersection is "a bit confusing." (KGTV) -- A man has been taken into custody following a carjacking Friday afternoon in Santee, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The incident started on the 9800 block of Mission Gorge Road around 1 p.m. when the suspect reportedly threatened to kill a 77-year-old woman and her family before hitting her, removing her from the car, and driving away with her purse and cell phone.Sheriff's deputies and La Mesa Police later found the suspect, Chris DiSalvo, 30, sitting in the stolen car on the 4600 block of Palm Drive in La Mesa. When he saw law enforcement, the department says he took off, crashing into a tree and running into a nearby apartment complex.DiSalvo was later found hiding in a stairwell and was arrested, the department says.According to authorities, DiSalvo admitted to taking drugs. He was given a dose of Naloxone and taken to the hospital.Upon his release from the medical facility, the department says he will be booked on several felony charges, including carjacking. 1035
