SAN DIEGO (CNS) - For the fourth time in a week, San Diego County public health officials reported a record-high number of daily COVID-19 cases, with 440 new positive cases recorded Friday.It's the fifth time in six days that health authorities reported more than 300 new COVID-19 cases and the first day yet with new cases topping 400. The total number of cases recorded since the pandemic began is now 12,401, and with six additional deaths reported Friday, the number of deaths increased to 358.Of those deaths, four men and two women died between June 13 and June 24, and ranged in age from late 50s to mid-90s. He added the county will hold meetings with residents to see what kind of amenities residents would like included. He said some early requests include playgrounds and a skate park.Fallbrook currently has three local parks, providing 1 acre per 1,000 residents. That number doesn't meet the General Plan goal of 10 acres of local parkland for that same number of people.Money for the park purchase will come from a community development block grant, according to county documents. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman whose Nissan Versa ended up underneath a semi-truck on Interstate 8 in El Cajon Monday escaped serious injury and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, authorities said. Heidi Farst, 56, of El Cajon was driving westbound on I-8 near Main Street when her compact car was rear-ended by another vehicle just before 6 a.m. Farst's car then collided with the semi-truck, flipped over and landed upside down underneath the rig, California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow said. Farst was freed from the wreckage and transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital for what were described as minor injuries, a CHP dispatcher said.
