San Diego (KGTV) - About a hundred people packed the auditorium at Crown Point in Pacific Beach Wednesday night to sound off about the deckles bikes and scooters invading their community.The PB Town Council held the meeting.  Representatives from LimeBike, Ofo, BIRD, and Mobike were present to take questions from the crowd.RELATED: Coronado to begin impounding dockless?bikes, fining companiesThe two main concerns dealt with encroachment issues and safety concerns. The dockless bike and scooter rental model involves people checking them out using an app, but after they’re done using them, they can leave them anywhere for the next rider to find and use.Many complained of the vehicles cluttering sidewalks, storefronts and residential blocks.Other say people are riding them illegally, either because they are too young, without a helmet, or riding them without where the vehicles are not allowed.“They have no regard for human life I think someone is going to die,” one woman said.“it's with anything new right? You have a couple of bad actors that don’t know how to operate the vehicle responsibly,” Zack Bartlett with LimeBike said. “The community seems to be behind the technology.  We’re also in 45 markets, so this isn’t our first rodeo. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- AMC is reopening an additional 140 theaters nationwide by Friday, including seven of its locations in San Diego County.The reopenings will mean 70 percent of the company's theaters, 420 total, will be open before Labor Day weekend.A vast majority of the theaters, the company said, will reopen on Thursday.On Friday, Sept. 4, these seven San Diego area theaters will be open to the public:AMC Chula Vista 10AMC Fashion Valley 18AMC La Jolla 12AMC Mission Valley 20AMC Otay Ranch 12AMC Plaza Bonita 14AMC DINE-IN Poway 10As part of the reopenings, AMC is "offering an array of food and beverage treats, including regular popcorn, regular Coca-Cola Freestyle drinks and KidsPacks, through the end of October. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect was arrested Sunday morning after reportedly stealing someone’s car and stabbing the owner who tried to prevent the theft.According to police, the incident happened around 9:10 a.m. on the 2800 block of Jarvis Street in Point Loma.When the owner of the car tried to stop the man, the suspect stabbed the victim. Police say the suspect then drove to the Fashion Valley Comprehensive Treatment Center to get help.RELATED: Car slams into house in San Diego's Skyline neighborhoodA short time later, the suspect was picked up by two other people in a red Ford SUV before police stopped the three at Ocean Beach and took them all into custody.The suspect was eventually arrested and the other two people in the SUV released. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An advisory committee made up of medical experts met Thursday virtually and recommended that the FDA authorize the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use for Americans 16 and older.The vote was 17 to 4.Hospitals across the San Diego County are preparing their staff and most vulnerable patients for the rollout of the vaccine. They are in the first groups of people to be vaccinated.The county expects to get 28,275 doses of the Pfizer vaccine next week if it gets FDA approval. The initial shipment of doses is not likely enough to meet the large demand said Dr. Davey Smith, the Chief of infectious diseases and Global Public Health at UC San Diego Health."There probably won't be enough for the frontline workers, so we even triage between the frontline workers. So who has the most contact in terms of emergency room workers, nursing staff, those on the front desk, those are the people who should and will get it first, all across the institution," Smith saidThe vaccine is expected at a time when COVID-19 infections are on the rise, and ICUs are filling up."We have hospital beds available, and ICU beds available," Smith said. "If we hit 100 percent in one unit, we're going to open up something else. We have other outside facilities with tents. We thought through this, through every single scenario.
