SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County residents can now watch for wildfires without ever going outside.  San Diego Gas and Electric introduced “Alert SDG&E Cameras” Tuesday.  The public website allows anyone to watch live video streamed from any of 15 cameras placed on top of the county’s highest peaks.“This is a game changer for San Diego and the communities that we serve,” said SDG&E COO Caroline Winn.“Alert SDG&E Cameras” is a collaboration with UC San Diego and the Seismology Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno.“We’re about getting the information out to those who want it,” said Winn. “It’s important that these are shared assets.”SDG&E meteorologists monitor the cameras, which can spin 360-degrees, zoom in to a fire, and can alert fire officials when there’s smoke. 814

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two families will forever be connected after an organ donation saves the life of a woman struggling with heart disease for nearly a decade. Susan Amador's son, David Rivera died, at the age of 30, in 2017 of a brain bleed, caused by a rare clotting disorder. The 30-year-old left behind a 4-year-old and his fiancee. Rivera was a registered organ donor and his organs helped save the lives of five people. His heart was donated to a woman named Sandra, of Chula Vista. On Monday, Rivera's family met the woman who now carries their loved ones' heart. The meeting was made possible through Lifesharing Donate Life, an organization that coordinates organ and tissue donation in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Rivera's mom hopes her story will encourage more people to sign up to be organ donors. 824

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - University of San Diego's Lamont Smith resigned from his position as head men's basketball coach, the school announced in a news release late Wednesday night. "This situation has been difficult for all concerned, and our prayers continue to remain with everyone," the school said in the release.  Last month, Smith was arrested in the Bay Area. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Vandals damaged a park in Sabre Springs Thursday night, dumping sand into toilets and scrawling inappropriate graffiti on the walls. Trash cans were emptied out and piles of wood chips were dumped along the entrance to the South Creek Neighborhood Park. The clogged toilets and sinks caused minor flooding in the bathrooms. Some of the plumbing was also damaged, according to the San Diego Police Department. City crews cleaned up the mess by the afternoon. Police were still searching for the culprits Friday. 537
