(KGTV) -- The family of Crystal Odom filled a San Diego courtroom Monday morning to hear a judge sentence the man convicted of killing Odom in a drive-by shooting in 1995. The judge sentenced Aswad Walker to 15 years to life for Odom's murder, plus three years for gang ties. He was convicted of second-degree murder back in February for Odom's death. Two previous trials had ended in hung juries. Odom's parents spoke before the sentencing. Her mother called Walker a coward and told him he would get what he deserved in prison. When Odom's father, James Odom, spoke, the family became very emotional, tears and sobs could be heard throughout the courtroom. Odom said a burden was lifted off his shoulders and that the sentencing marked an end to a long ordeal. At the time of the shooting, Crystal was with her then boyfriend and her 10-month-old daughter. Her daughter and boyfriend were unhurt. 959

San Diego State University on Thursday detailed a 0 million plan to avoid the massive flooding that has engulfed the Mission Valley Stadium site, which it plans to turn into a West Campus. The current stadium sits on a 166-acre site that is largely sloped, causing runoff from the nearby San Diego River and Murphy Canyon Creek to pool. In 2010, the flooding got so bad that it went onto the field and threatened the Holiday Bowl football game. Voters in November approved the SDSU West measure, paving the way for the university to turn the site into a Mission Valley campus with a smaller football stadium and a river park. The project is currently going through the environmental process. "It started out as a technical problem and it became kind of a foundation of our design and our vision," said Laura Shinn, SDSU's director of planning. SDSU presented its plan to mitigate the flooding to the city's environmental committee Thursday. The idea is to turn most of the sloping site into an elevated, flat area for the campus and stadium. SAN DIEGO — A YouTube video shows a community college police officer drawing his gun on a San Diego man carrying a camera Wednesday.The video shows the Mesa College police officer getting out of his car and asking Chris, the man with two cameras, what he was filming.Chris, who did not want to provide his last name, refused to put down the GoPro camera. Within seconds, the officer took his weapon out of the holster. The officer did not put his gun back in the holster until a second officer arrived.Chris is the founder of California Citizens Watch, a group that audits government entities. SAN DIEGO, Calif (KGTV) - Doctors are warning that this winter's wet weather means an early start to allergy season."We anticipate that it could get pretty bad," says Dr. Dana Ger, the Clinical Director of Scripps Health Express.She says her offices have already seen people with all the symptoms; sneezing, runny noses, scratchy throats, coughs and congestion.Dr. Ger says you can blame it on the rain. All the wet weather in January and February kept the pollen close to the ground instead letting it disperse into the atmosphere. It's also creating a perfect environment for allergies to develop."We get mold because we have a warm and wet environment," she says. "With that we have these allergy symptoms."The rain is also bringing a high likelihood of a super bloom, with wildflowers throughout the state. Those will add more pollen to the air.And because allergy season is starting sooner, it could make symptoms worse as the spring moves along."If you have mild allergies when it's a mild spring, or a small amounts of pollen, you can have increasing allergies when there is significantly more amounts of allergies or mold," says Dr. Ger.To treat the symptoms, Dr. Ger recommends a nasal irrigation with salt water or a spray. She also says over the counter medicines will usually take care of the problem.If they don't, Dr. Ger says you should see a doctor to make sure there isn't a bigger problem, like Sinusitis."That's when it becomes critical that we have diagnosis," she says.
