(KGTV) -- Hundreds of thousands of veterans and active duty military call San Diego County home, but a group says they are facing big disadvantages when trying to buy a house here.The San Diego Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals says more than 60 percent of listings in the county won't accept offers with V.A. loans.The federally backed loans don't require a down payment or mortgage insurance. Those eligible in San Diego County can borrow up to about 0,000 without any cash down. "We have served, and the V.A. loan is a guaranteed loan," said Andre Hobbs, a San Diego realtor and veteran who heads the association.Hobbs says the benefit is backfiring for some home seekers in San Diego's ultra-competitive housing market. It's because he says sellers are opting for offers instead that include cash down payment because of a misperception about V.A. applicants."They assume that this buyer is ready to walk," Hobbs said. "He's not motivated."Mark Goldman, a real-estate lecturer at San Diego State University, said there are some misconceptions about V.A. loans, such as that they are more complex. (KGTV) - Chula Vista loves to come together for a celebration, and nothing unites the community more than another Little League champion.Ten years ago, a team from Park View Little League launched a phenomenon, beating a team from Chinese Taipei to win the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. Since then, three other teams have represented the South Bay in central Pennsylvania, and each time, the community rallies together for send-offs, viewing parties, and championship parades. Luke Ramirez celebrated his 13th birthday during Park View's magical run in 2009. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District is tightening its belt on the budget. On the table is a plan to not replace dozens of positions and cut bus routes. Critics say the move could leave hundreds of students without a ride to school. The board meets Tuesday night to finalize the plan to save money. One of the biggest moves on the table is not replacing some 80 positions within the district. Positions on the chopping block include assistant superintendent positions and nine bus drivers. No one within the district will be at risk of losing their jobs. Instead, the positions won’t be replaced after employees retire. Roughly 300 employees already chose to take an early retirement. The district also plans to eliminate 30 bus routes next school year that will save half a million dollars per year. Four of the districts 13 high schools will be affected by the route cuts. Several parents say they were blindsided by the news. "Out here we have year round schooling, so schools going to be starting for us in July. That’s just a couple months to figure out for parents that are working how they're going to change their schedules and if they can't then these kids are left to fend for themselves,” said Sara McIntosh. The district says Sweetwater is one of a few districts that still offers bus service. Many districts cut it years ago when the state stopped requiring it. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A growing turf war over a fee at the San Diego International Airport is threatening to delay the massive project to revitalize Chula Vista's bayfront about 15 miles south.The Port of San Diego is already clearing land to make way for a new resort and convention center. RIDA Development has already been selected to build both. The issue now is how to pay for the 1,600 space parking garage next door. The Port imposed a .50 cent fee on rental cars at the airport to help finance the million garage, which a spokeswoman says is authorized in The Port Act. RELATED: Chula Vista bayfront project: Soil transportation underway"This fee is a tried-and-true method for financing a parking facility that has worked great in San Diego already. It is a previously Board-adopted and legislatively-created funding that is explicitly authorized in Port Act Section 57.5," said Port Spokeswoman Tanya Castaneda.But the Airport Authority says it has the power to impose the fees at its facility. The Authority joined a lawsuit by Hertz and Enterprise challenging the fees - leading to concerns of delays."It would have been nice before this fee was levied for someone to reach out to us," said April Boling, the Airport Authority's chair.
