RANCHO PENASQUITOS (KGTV) - Teens playing basketball in Rancho Penasquitos said they were robbed Saturday night. Police said during the pursuit of a car that matched the description, it crashed and rolled onto the roof.One suspect was injured from the crash as he was not wearing a seatbelt. He was trapped in the car and arrested.Police say two other suspects, identified as a black man in his 20s and a Hispanic man in his early 20s fled the vehicle.K9s searched the area for the suspects.Ed Solis, the father of one of the boys who was robbed, said it was his son's 18th birthday and they were celebrating at home.Toward the end of the party, the guys wanted to play basketball at Views West Park. They left their belongings in a pile and noticed a group of men stealing their wallets and phones.The teens went after the attempted robbers and were able to catch one. Solis said one of the men came back and threatened the boys, saying he had a gun and would "smoke them."The boys let the man go and then called Solis about the robbery. He rushed over, and found all the boys were safe and unharmed, but shaken.Officers caught up with the suspect vehicle at 14500 Penasquitos Drive where it flipped.Some of the boys got their items back, while others did not. 1319

President Donald Trump took action Wednesday to make it a little easier for the nation's military spouses to find employment as their families deploy domestically and abroad.The President signed an executive order aimed at increasing opportunities for military spouses to obtain federal jobs and encouraging agencies to increase their use of the noncompetitive hiring authority for military spouses. Trump said he hoped the executive action would encourage private-sector businesses to follow suit in their hiring practices.Speaking to a crowd of military spouses at the White House, the President said, "Your support is essential to making our military the mightiest fighting force in the world and getting stronger all the time."He continued, "We can never repay you for all that you do. We know what you do, and your spouse knows what you do. We can never repay you for that, but we can and we will give you the opportunities you deserve."The unemployment rate for military spouses is 16%, four times the national average for female adults, a statistic the President noted.A survey of military families released last June from Hiring Our Heroes, a US Chamber of Commerce foundation, found that unemployment and underemployment are major challenges for the spouses of service members, 92% of whom are female. Among military spouses who are employed, 14% are in part-time jobs and half of that part-time group wants full-time work.Trump promised, "We are going to change that, and we are going to change it as quickly as we can. It will go fast."While many military spouses choose "portable" career paths like teaching or nursing or law, those often have state-specific licensing requirements that present barriers with each new move.The Trump administration is building on the work begun by former first lady Michelle Obama and former second lady Jill Biden, who through their Joining Forces initiative called on US governors to streamline licensing and credentialing for the military community."Even though all 50 states have addressed this issue in some way, we know that there are still plenty of gaps and challenges that we need to work on, so as far as I'm concerned, our work here definitely isn't finished," Michelle Obama told the Military Times in 2016.The licensing barriers sometimes force spouses to choose between advancing their own careers and moving from place to place with their service member husband or wife."We're working with states across the country to encourage them to remove licensing barriers so that spouses who work in careers such as teaching, nursing and law, many others, also can get a job in their profession no matter where they move," Trump said Wednesday.The administration has been working to address the challenges of military spouse employment for several months. RAMONA, CA (KGTV) -- Thanks to the San Diego Humane Society's Project Wildlife, an orphaned mountain lion pup has a second chance at life. The Humane Society acquired the Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona on September 1st, and the very next day, the 12 week old mountain lion pup was their very first patient."We got a call from California Fish and Wildlife," says Project Wildlife Director Andy Blue. "That a firefighter had found a mountain lion cub in distress up near Idyllwild."The female cub was found semi-conscious, extremely emaciated, and dehydrated."When she first arrived here in Ramona, she appeared to be in pretty bad shape, and I wasn't sure she was going to survive."That's when the Project Wildlife team stepped in and provided the cub life saving treatment."We immediately gave her critical care supplies, got a diet syringe fed to her, and did everything we needed to do to turn it around."And a little over a month later, with the great care from Project Wildlife, Blue says the cub is expected to make a full recovery. "Now she is completely stable and will most likely be going to another facility in Arizona." You might think that once animals have rehabbed, they would be let back out into the wild.. Well that's not always the case.""Because she's had so much human contact, we really can't release her back into the wild. Our goal is to rehab animals and release them back into the wild, but in her case, it's not a good idea."The plan is to relocate the lion cub to a facility in Arizona by next week. 1548
