SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspect in a series of residential burglaries and auto thefts in El Cajon was arrested Thursday.Davon Lee, 20, was driving a vehicle stolen during one of the home- invasion thefts when San Diego police took him into custody Thursday afternoon, El Cajon police Lt. Kevin MacArthur said.Lee, an El Cajon resident, is suspected of committing seven burglaries in the East County city in recent weeks.In each case, the intruder entered an occupied home through an open door or window, located car keys inside and then stole a vehicle from the premises, MacArthur said. 591
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A pedestrian was fatally stuck on the Mission Valley (8) Freeway in San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.The crash occurred on the westbound 8 Freeway near Hotel Circle about 8:15 p.m., the CHP reported.The body was found near the center divider. There was no immediate word on the age or gender of the victim. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Federal agents thwarted a maritime human smuggling attempt off the coast of San Diego Tuesday morning, taking 14 undocumented immigrants into custody and arresting two of them on suspicion of leading the group illegally into U.S. waters. Personnel with the U.S. Coast Guard spotted the border-crossers' boat heading north without running lights near the international marine boundary at about midnight, according to U.S. Border Patrol public affairs. Agents with Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations intercepted the camouflage-painted pleasure craft roughly eight miles west of Mission Bay and took the occupants -- two women and 12 men -- into custody. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Officials Thursday publicly identified a woman whose body was found floating in Mission Bay last weekend.A visitor to Fiesta Island made an emergency call shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday to report spotting 36-year-old Anita Teres dead in the waters of the manmade harbor south of Pacific Beach, according to San Diego police.``Although there were no obvious traumatic injuries seen (on) the victim, due to the circumstances and the condition of the body ... homicide investigators were called to the scene out of an abundance of caution,'' Lt. Matt Dobbs said. ``Very little is known about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the death at this time.''Authorities have been unable to locate any next of kin for Teres, who was known to frequent Fiesta Island, downtown San Diego, La Mesa and various local trolley stops, according to police. 874
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities asked San Diego-area residents Wednesday to be on the lookout for a parolee wanted in connection with a recent Northern California homicide.Joshua Thomas Vaden, 30, is suspected of murdering a South Sacramento man last month, according to police.Relatives who had been unable to contact 49-year-old Army veteran Demian Michael for days found him slain in his home on the afternoon of April 14. Detectives soon identified Vaden as Michael's suspected killer, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.Vaden is a transient with gang ties and prior arrests for vehicle theft, resisting officers, carjacking, assault, battery, robbery, burglary, lewd acts with a child and failure to register as a sex offender, officials said.
