SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Hewlett-Packard (HP) on Monday unveiled a new business desktop computer, days after the world's largest personal computer (PC) maker announced its plan to sell its PC business.The company said the new model, HP Compaq 8200 Elite All-in-One Business Desktop, is the industry's first all-in-one PC that integrates Intel's second-generation Core vPro technology, which can deliver up to 40 percent better performance, 15 percent faster hard drive access and reduced downtime via remote information technology management."Another industry first in our Elite desktop family demonstrates our commitment to engineering excellence and underscores our global leadership in secure, enterprise computing, " Jeff Groudan, HP's director of commercial desktop marketing, said in a statement.HP said the new computer is available now in the United States. DUBLIN, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The Irish government is aiming to increase internet literacy among older people with the launch of a 1.6 million euro training program, according to a cabinet minister on Monday.The goal of the scheme is to provide basic internet skills to 30,000 elderly people across the country who are less likely engage with the internet themselves.The announcement was made by Irish communications minister Pat Rabbitte at a new computer training facility run by Age Action Ireland, an Irish charity which promotes positive aging and better policies and services for older people.The Irish minister detailed how the training program will help those involved."This scheme will enable thousands of people throughout Ireland, people otherwise likely to be left behind in the knowledge society, to acquire the basic practical know-how to improve their digital skills. In particular this will help older people, those with disabilities, the unemployed and other key target groups. They will learn to use the internet, emails and how to conduct simple on-line transactions," he said."Previous schemes show that learning such basic skills helps people in many ways, giving them new communication options, new opportunities to save money, as well as better access to a wide range of on-line services," he added."We have also seen how such new skills and the opportunities that result from them improve people's confidence and wellbeing. MOSCOW, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- A state of emergency has been imposed in a district in the Krasnodar Region in south Russia amid an out break of the African swine fever, the regional emergencies center said on Sunday.The emergencies center told local reporters that the African swine fever virus (ASFV) was found in a private farm where 15 pigs died of the disease, but the source of the infection is still unclear.Local authorities said some 12,000 pigs in and around the Krylovskaya village, some three km away from the private farm, are being culled, 50 of which have already died of the ASFV in recent days.In April, the regional emergencies has temporarily declared a state of emergency in the Labinsky district in the region, as the ASFV was found at a livestock farm. 85 pigs were culled at the farm.

GENEVA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) started an emergency vaccination campaign in all accessible areas of South and Central Somalia, WTO spokesperson Tarek Jasarevic said here on Friday.In July 2011 alone, 1,019 suspected measles cases and 31 related deaths were reported in South and Central Somalia, representing 20 percent of all reported cases for this year.The major factors for a measles outbreak in Somalia are low coverage, malnutrition, population movements, and overcrowed internally displaced (IDP) camps."WHO fears that the measles outbreak could affect a high number of people, especially among the vulnerable IDPs whose overall health is already fragile," Jasarevic said.About 2.5 million children aged between 6 and 15 in 10 regions of South and Central Somalia, including children in Mogadishu, will be targeted during this campaign.
