New data shows what 0K will get you in San Diego compared to other parts of the country. According to Property Shark, you could, on average, buy a 496 square foot home for 0,000. The same amount of money would buy you more than 3,300 square feet in El Paso and more than 3,200 in San Antonio. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - You probably don't know Encinitas resident Carol Areas, but you may have seen her words of encouragement scattered thorough San Diego. Ten years ago, she and her son began writing positive messages on rocks and leaving them around the city. Now they receive messages of people making their own rocks around the world.When Areas learned her son had Asperger's, she was compelled to start a new project, the Love it Forward List. "I felt the need to connect with people, to receive love, to know people are caring," said Areas. Whenever she hears someone is going through a hard time, she rally's volunteers to send them some love. "Five years now writing snail mails! I love that!" said Areas.So when she learned about 5-year-old Noah Avery and his 7-year-old sister Kalea, she called on her army of comfort warriors. "The moment I heard about this story, I thought we had to do a campaign for them," said Areas.In June of 2018, Kalea was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor. "Thirteen days after we were told our daughter had a brain tumor, we were told our son Noah had a brain tumor," recalls their mother, Nohea Avery. There are only a handful of cases known of siblings being diagnosed with this cancer, doctors say. And Nohea says her doctors don't know any cases of siblings being diagnosed at the same time. "To have two, you kind of just, you go into survival mode. I always tell people well, we don't have a choice. You wake up every day, and you show up for them every day, and you kind of just, one foot in front of another," said Nohea. This summer, both kids were in remission, but then doctors found a small tumor in Noah's brain. They're traveling to Rady Children's Hospital each week from Los Angeles for proton radiation. But Nohea says throughout every challenge, complete strangers like Areas have shown up along the way. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --A deported Army veteran who was pardoned by Governor Jerry Brown last year will now be allowed to become a U.S. citizen.Hector Barajas was honorably discharged but then deported to Mexico in 2004 after serving prison time for a shooting.  He had been waiting for news about his application for citizenship and learned Thursday that it had been approved. His swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for April 13 in San Diego. Barajas founded the Deported Veterans Support house in Tijuana and has become an advocate for the roughly 350 other men and women in the same situation. "We don't condone criminal activity, I'm not proud of what happened but I am proud of my service, and I take responsibility for what happened. I went to prison, paid my debt to society and I don't think we should be deported, " Barajas told 10News via Skype Friday morning. Although he's looking forward to starting a new chapter, he says he is very much committed to carrying on the mission he started to help bring other deported vets home.  1072

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While Willy Wonka isn't expected to show up to San Diego Comic-Con, his famous promotion will appear before hungry fans.For the fourth year, the San Diego Convention Center has created its own chocolate bars that will be sold inside the center during Comic-Con, the center announced this week. A total of 3,800 chocolate bars will be made and sold near Ballroom 20 for each.But the real surprise comes underneath the wrapper for four lucky fans. 10NEWS' COMIC-CON CENTRALThe convention center has hidden four "golden tickets" inside the bars, according to the center. Those who find a golden ticket will be award a 0 Starbucks gift card — the perfect treat for an SDCC attendee.This year's four themed flavors include "Stranger Smores" (milk chocolate, crispy waffles, and maple syrup marshmallows), "Battle Bar" (dark chocolate and raspberry crisps), "Dragon Smoke" (smoked dark chocolate and chipotle dust), and "50/30" (sprinkles, birthday cake, and white chocolate).The last bar was named in commemoration of the 50th SDCC and convention center's 30th anniversary.
