ESCONDIDO, Calif (KGTV) - An albino red-tailed boa constrictor named "Lemony Snicket" is back home.A man wearing a hood and backpack returned the snake on May 16 to the EcoVivarium children's museum in Escondido. Museum officials believe Lemony disappeared on April 29. The snake was dehydrated and had not been fed. It was also full of mites. Later in the day, they said the boa was missing.A security camera facing Lemony's enclosure was also inoperable. Earlier the same day, the camera broke. A security expert said it appeared the camera was knocked out by some type of electrical charge.The museum said it would not press any charges against the person they believe to have taken the snake. 1144

I've been all over the world - and Honor Flight was the most fantastic trip I've been on," said George Sousa, a Korean War veteran who served in the U.S. Army.The girls also helped send U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Marshall Varano who also fought in the Korean War."It's great to see young people like this take care of older folks," said Varano.Fundraising is critical for Honor Flight San Diego. When Heidi Linkogle looked at her shop's surveillance video, the theft was revealed, move by move."Unbelievable. ENCINITAS (CNS) - The city of Encinitas announced its intent Tuesday to join a countywide joint-powers authority that would provide energy service to residents and compete with private companies like San Diego Gas & Electric.The Encinitas City Council voted Aug. 21 to join the JPA, which will be headed by the city of San Diego, because it aligns with the city's Climate Action Plan. In February, the San Diego City Council voted to begin the process of establishing a so-called community choice energy program with the intention of inviting other cities into the fold as the program expands.The county of San Diego and the cities of Chula Vista and La Mesa have also expressed a willingness to join the CCE program in recent weeks. FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) -- A North County baker who has lost thousands of dollars due to postponed or canceled weddings is trying to help neighbors and keep her business afloat at the same time. Jennifer Duarte said owning a bakery is a dream she’s had since she was a child.“There was a bakery close to my house and the lady worked in the window,” said Jennifer Duarte, owner of Elegance on Display. “I would go and I would just stand there and watch her and said, when I grow up I want to do that.” That’s what she did. She has owned Elegance on Display in Fallbrook for 15 years. With the COVID-19 pandemic—and her specialty being wedding cakes—she’s lost a decent chunk of income.“I had 50 weddings postponed… maybe eight of those are canceling completely,” Duarte said. She has three employees, two of which she had to lay off. She hopes to be able to rehire her employees, but for now, she’s just trying to stay in business. With some items, like eggs, hard to find on store shelves, she’s using her connections to provide a service to her neighbors and also make some up some of her lost income. “We can order bulk through our bakery supplier. Last week, I got flour, sugar, eggs, and butter,” Duarte said. She repackages it in smaller amounts to sell to her neighbors. She said she isn’t making a big profit, but the community has been great lending their support. “So many people realize that there’s not a huge mark up on it. They’ve been tipping or volunteering to help with deliveries,”she added. Duarte is also still making cupcakes, cookies, and small cakes for people who would like to place an order. “I’m just trying to bring a little joy to everybody who’s stuck at home. Cupcakes [and] cookies make everybody feel better,” Duarte said. She makes deliveries throughout Fallbrook, although you have to order ahead. You can also place an order for pick up.
