SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego Police officer is showing his gratitude this holiday season after an incredible display of heroism.It was at the end of his graveyard shift when he heard panic over the scanner."It's moving pretty quick, ooohh standby. It went over the… it went over the cliff. I was not in pursuit. I just pretty much said 'I'm going,'" Wiese remembered.He rappelled down a 30-foot drop, MacGyvering a rescue rope with his 100-foot dog leash. He says adrenaline, police training, but mostly his father-instinct kicked in."I had a two-year-old daughter at home, so when I'm looking in the water, it's her who is floating in the water," Wiese said. His brave actions have since been recognized many times. He says it is a day he will always remember."I am most grateful this year, knowing that those two little girls have a second chance at life," Wiese said.Another unforgettable day for Wiese is April 27, 2019. He was on his way to get lunch with his family when he heard an active shooter call on the scanner. Moments later, he spotted the suspect. Without backup, he convinced the Poway Synagogue shooter to surrender. Officer Wiese took him into custody.Wiese says his competitive spirit motivates him to be a better version of himself every day, to show resilience and strength for his community."If you feel like you're going to win, then incidents like this, like at Sunset Cliffs, 'I'm going to win this incident. I'm going to save these girls in this man.' At the synagogue, 'I'm going to win. I'm going to go home to my family, and he is going to go to jail. and the community is going to be safe.'" SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested early Sunday morning after police say she stabbed her son several times. Police responded to the 8000 block of Donzee Street near I-805 and SR-163 just after 2 a.m.According to police, a 71-year-old mother and her 31-year-old son got into an argument when things got physical.The woman reportedly stabbed her son four times before calling police to report the stabbing.The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His mother was arrested and booked into jail. 538

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect who reportedly sexually assaulted a female student at Mesa College has been taken into custody Friday night, according to the San Diego Community College Police.The sexual assault happened around 1:30 p.m. on the grassy area outside the Mesa College LRC.The suspect reportedly walked with the woman before pinning her down in the grass and trying to put his hand down her pants and under her shirt.Police released no further details about the suspect Saturday.  509

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An El Cajon mother is searching for clues after her teenage son was brutally beaten and mugged in the East Village.Two Tuesdays ago, Sarah Swift-Farrow got the call every mother dreads. Her 19-year-old son, Titan Mellor, was in the ER and hurt badly."My heart dropped ... just a hopeless feeling," said Swift-Farrow.She believes around 2 p.m., her son, a Grossmont College student, was headed to the Family Health Centers clinic in the East Village, applying for some sort of state assistance, when it happened. Swift-Farrow learned details from the paramedics' report."He was attacked from behind by a group of people, hit in the back of the head with a glass bottle. He fell to the ground, was repeatedly punched, and lost consciousness. Then he was kicked in the face for an unknown duration of time," said Swift-Farrow.Swift-Farrow says the attackers took his keys, phone, and wallet, charging thousands of dollars in purchases on his credit cards during the next few days. As for Mellor, he suffered a concussion and a host of severe injuries."Multiple fractures in his eye socket, his nose, above the mouth, behind his ear and in the back of his head," said Swift-Farrow.She says his road to recovery won't be an easy one. His memory of the attack remains hazy."He remembers a group of six to eight males yelling at him, and then getting hit from behind," said Swift-Farrow.Swift-Farrow is making a plea for tips to help police fill in the missing details."They need to be caught because my son deserves justice, and I don’t want this to happen to anyone else," said Swift-Farrow.She says the first charge on the stolen credit card was at the nearby MTS stop. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- According to a recently-released autopsy, a combination of cocaine, alcohol and blunt chest impact caused a man to die during a punching game in March downtown.The medical examiner ruled the death of 27-year-old Corey Poole an accident Monday. According to authorities, Poole went out drinking at Jolt’n Joe’s downtown just before 1 a.m. with friends.Police said Poole and one of his friends then decided to have a punching contest. Poole and his friend then started “consensually sparring” and punching one another in the chest.RELATED: Man killed in Gaslamp Quarter punching game identifiedIt was then, according to police, that Poole fell to the ground and became unresponsive. Poole was taken to the hospital where he later died.Poole’s friend was also taken to the hospital for chest pain following the incident. 850
