SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Countywide sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties like condominiums increased from June to July while median sale prices ticked down, according to data released Wednesday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.Single-family home sales rose 2.4%, from 1,980 in June to 2,028 in July, while attached property sales ticked up 5.1%, from 975 in June to 1,025 last month. Both increases are a modest recovery for the housing market after housing sales tumbled by double digits from May to June.Median sales prices for both property types dipped slightly in July after steady gains each month of the year, save for attached property prices from March to April. Single-family home prices decreased 2.2% from 0,000 in June to 5,000 in July, while attached property prices dipped 1.5% from 1,500 in June to 5,000 last month.``The inventory of homes for sale across the county just can't seem to jump-start, although some neighborhoods have been consistently strong,'' said SDAR President Kevin Burke. ``We can be thankful for the continuing economic expansion, low mortgage rates and the recent reduction in the benchmark interest rate by the Fed.''Year-over-year sales declined for both property types, according to the GSDAR. Single-family home sales dipped 3.3% in July when compared to a year ago -- from 2,097 to 2,028, while attached property sales fell 2.8% from 1,055 in July 2018 to 1,025 last month.Year-over-year sales prices increased slightly for both property types. Single-family sales prices ticked up 0.6% from 1,000 in July 2018 to 5,000 last month, while attached property prices increased 1.2% from 0,000 in July 2018 to 5,000 last month.Fifty-eight single-family homes sold in Fallbrook last month, the most of any ZIP code in the county. 1841

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Cleveland National Forest officials Saturday announced elevated fire restrictions until Jan. 1, 2021, and ordered the closure of Three Sisters & Cedar Creek Fall Trails after a heat advisory was issued by the National Weather Service.The trails will be closed until Sunday, officials said."These restrictions are put into effect to provide for emergency resource protection and public safety during hazardous fire conditions," a forest official said.The new restrictions include:No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, or within a developed recreation sites; No welding or operating an acetylene or other torch with an open flame;No target shooting, discharging a firearm, air rifle, or gas gun;No building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or charcoal fire except within a developed recreation sites;No wood or charcoal fires are allowed except in identified developed campgrounds and developed picnic areas within designated fire rings.The Cleveland National Forest encompasses 460,000 acres and is the southernmost U.S. National Forest in California. It is divided into the Descanso, Palomar and Trabuco ranger districts and located in the counties of San Diego, Riverside, and Orange. 1255

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspect in a series of residential burglaries and auto thefts in El Cajon was arrested Thursday.Davon Lee, 20, was driving a vehicle stolen during one of the home- invasion thefts when San Diego police took him into custody Thursday afternoon, El Cajon police Lt. Kevin MacArthur said.Lee, an El Cajon resident, is suspected of committing seven burglaries in the East County city in recent weeks.In each case, the intruder entered an occupied home through an open door or window, located car keys inside and then stole a vehicle from the premises, MacArthur said. 591

  

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was shot in the hand during a large party near San Diego State University Sunday, police said. Police received reports of gunfire at about 12:30 a.m. on Art Street in the college area. Officers found a car with a bullet hole, but no victim. They found some shell casings at the scene. Later, a man with a bullet wound to the hand showed up at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. Police went to the hospital to interview the victim, but he was uncooperative, police said. 492

  

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Monday is the deadline for San Diego County residents to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election.County residents will need to register or re-register to vote if they are not registered in San Diego County, recently moved or changed their name.County residents can check their registration status online at sdvote.com. If they are not registered or need to change their registration, they will be able to complete an online registration form.If their signature is confirmed through records at the Department of Motor Vehicles, it will automatically be sent to the Registrar of Voter's office.If a signature is not confirmed, the form can be printed out, signed and returned to the registrar's office at 5600 Overland Ave. in Kearny Mesa by 8 p.m. on Monday.Registration forms are also available at the offices of the U.S. Postal Service, City Clerk, public libraries and Department of Motor Vehicles.Election materials are also available in Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese and Chinese.Registration forms must be postmarked or delivered to the Registrar of Voters office by 8 p.m. Monday. Voters may also register online until midnight.If you miss the deadline to register, you may still conditionally register and vote provisionally through Election Day.Early voting is underway at the registrar's office in Kearny Mesa.
