SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While the Friday night lights of high school football are dimmed for the time being, the same cannot be said for the pickleball courts in Del Cerro."There is nothing better than to play pickleball on a Friday night," says avid player Deanna McDonald.Some players decided to pick up the game after the pandemic hit, and found it to be so much fun. And while some sports and other physical activities have been limited, or put on hold due to COVID-19, pickleball has become a great alternative."When my gym closed, I was looking for something to do besides just walking around my neighborhood a few times, and get some exercise," says pickleball newcomer Noli Zosa.As for player Joe Arnold, he can't get enough pickleball."I suffer from what is called pickleball addictive disorder, and it really helps that a lot," Arnold joked.Prior to the pandemic, pickleball was exploding in popularity. From the young to the old, it's a sport that can be played at any age."The people who play are so nice, and you'll hear a lot of laughter in all the games," says Zosa.Now, when it comes to playing pickleball, there are no actual COVID rules, but these players do their best to keep the game as safe as possible."We sanitize the ball, and try to keep our social distance after each game. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two people working on scaffolding on the side of a downtown high-rise were rescued Tuesday after their equipment became stuck.The two workers were stuck 42 stories in the air after their equipment failed just before 10 a.m., leaving their mobile scaffolding stuck, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue.Fire crews climbed to the top floor 46 stories up and were lowered down to the trapped pair. Glass on the 43rd floor of the building was then removed and the workers were hoisted into the building. View this post on Instagram SD Fire-Rescue crews are on scene at a building under construction at 14th and Island. SDFD dispatchers received the request for assistance at about 9:50 Tuesday morning. Two construction workers were on a window washing lift when the lift stopped functioning and the workers were not able to move the lift. USAR 2, engines 2 and 4 and trucks 1 and 11 along with medic 10 responded. The technical rescue team went to the roof and set up the rope system. They lowered down to the construction crew outside the 42nd floor and were able to remove a window on the 43rd floor. The 43rd floor window served as the extraction point. The first construction worker was rescued at 10:52 and the second at 11:01 a.m. The firefighters are now in the process of retrieving their rescue equipment. No injuries. High home prices and rising interest rates are expected to slow sales.In our effort to help you find ways to make it in San Diego, 10News discovered a generation of people motivated to sell, and a generation willing to do the work to get a better deal."So, if you think about going into the grocery store and there's a bin of apples, you want to pick the one that's the shiniest right?” says Lisa Becker, a realtor for Keller-Williams. “Our job is to help the sellers spend money strategically and wisely, and yet we have a saying, ‘Don’t step over a dollar bill to pick up a penny.'"Becker encourages sellers not to spend money where it isn't necessary to sell their homes, including her current clients.“They’ve been here for 40 years, they’re in their late 70s,” says Becker. They’ve taken really great care of it, yet it’s still tile counters, and we know the buyer is going to want to put in quartz or granite in here.”No need for a costly upgrade in the kitchen or any other rooms. Instead, Becker and her team will take out all the furniture and stage the entire house.“So, as we go through the home, we’re going to be neutralizing all the paint,” says Becker. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Wednesday, the White House announced that it has pardoned Margaret Hunter one day after granting a pardon to former Congressman Duncan Hunter over misuse of campaign funds.Margaret Hunter was sentenced to eight months of home confinement and three years probation after she pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge.
