Immunotherapy has gained ground against a stubborn opponent: ovarian cancer. A personalized cancer vaccine is safe and may lengthen the lives of ovarian cancer patients, a small clinical trial found.The research, published Wednesday in the journal Science Translational Medicine, showed "significantly higher" overall survival at two years among patients who received the vaccine, compared with patients who did not.Ovarian cancer is a "silent killer" because often it goes unnoticed until it is diagnosed at a late stage. Treated with surgery followed by chemotherapy, most patients -- 85% -- relapse and ultimately develop resistance to the chemo. At this point, they run out of treatment options.Still, scientists are hopeful based on the fact that a subset of patients shows an immune response to their cancer. HUNTINGTON BEACH (CNS) - A crowd estimated at 400 people gathered in front of the Huntington Beach pier to protest the first night of a statewide curfew aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19, authorities said Sunday.The people gathered at 10 p.m. Saturday along Pacific Coast Highway at Main Street, crossing the highway when allowed by the traffic light, said Huntington Beach police Lt. Ryan Reilly.By 11:30 p.m., the crowd appeared about half that size, said Reilly, who was watching the gathering via surveillance cameras.The protest ended shortly after midnight, he said.The group was law-abiding "for the most part," Reilly said. One person was arrested for public intoxication. "Some, not all" wore face masks.It appeared the vehicles passing through the area were part of the demonstration and the same vehicles were seen moving north and south on PCH, Reilly said.Officers were there watching the activity but no illegal assembly was declared, he said.Sergeants posted in the Main Street area reported that all of the bars, restaurants and other businesses closed by 10 p.m., Reilly said.The department did not issue citations for curfew violations, he said. How do you re-capture a gigantic runaway pig?According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, deputies received a call on Saturday that a pig "the size of a mini horse" was roaming a local neighborhood.Deputies were quickly able to track down the swine and determined where he lived, but still had to figure out how to corral him and get him home. It turns out, pigs don't need to be corralled if there are Doritos on hand.According to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Office, Deputy Ponce had a bag of Doritos on hand in her lunch box and was able to lure the pig back to his home by laying a trail of chips on the street.The pig made it safely home and deputies were able to secure the gate. Ponce called the journey "fun."The Doritos appeared to be of the Cool Ranch variety. It's unclear if the pig would have been swayed by Nacho Cheese chips.  880

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes warned Sunday that he plans to urge lawmakers "this week" to hold Attorney General Jeff Sessions in contempt of Congress for failing to hand over classified materials related to the Russia investigation.But the Justice Department informed Nunes three days ago -- on the deadline for responding to a subpoena from Nunes' committee -- that providing the information on a "specific individual" could pose grave implications for national security, according to a letter obtained by CNN."Disclosure of responsive information to such requests can risk severe consequences, including potential loss of human lives, damage to relationships with valued international partners, compromise of ongoing criminal investigations, and interference with intelligence activities," wrote Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd, who heads the Justice Department's Office of Legislative Affairs.It was not immediately clear why Nunes has targeted Sessions. A source familiar with the matter said that the request falls squarely within Sessions' recusal from all materials related to the Russia investigation.
