Consumers are going to have to wait a little longer to shop the Toys "R" Us liquidation sales.The company had said it expected the sales to start Thursday. But there's been a delay, a company spokesperson told CNNMoney Thursday morning. It now expects sales to likely start Friday.The iconic toy giant announced last week that it will shut or sell all of its 735 US stores.Shoppers looking to snag a bargain should act fast when the sales start."It will be quick," said Chuck Tatelbaum, a director with Tripp Scott, a Florida law firm, on how quickly the shelves will empty. "No more than 60 days, closer to 30 days."The more popular and favorite toys tend to move the fastest, and inventory is likely already slim."The [stores] haven't gotten a lot of new inventory in the last month or two, so a lot of the popular things have probably already sold out," said Tatelbaum.Consumers with Toys "R" Us gift cards and Endless Earnings e-gift cards should also hurry. The retailer will honor these forms of payment until April 20. Stores will no longer accept coupons or other rewards.Stores will accept returns on products purchased before the liquidation for the next 30 days. All purchases made after liquidation sales begin are final, which means they cannot be returned or exchanged.Consumers planning on going to the store for one last walk up and down the aisles to reminisce could face a different reality."People will go for one last time, but I am not sure it will translate into buying," said Tatelbaum. "I think you are going to find a general malaise — not happy and joyful employees ... this is going to be almost like a wake."The company has been posting job openings recently for temporary positions to help during the liquidation process.But the store closings mean that around 31,000 employees will ultimately be laid off.  1849

(KGTV) - A group of Coronado High School students claimed they faced intimidation by staff and security over a planned nationwide walkout over gun reform.Friday, students across the country walked out of class calling for reform to the nation's gun laws. Consumers will soon be able to rent tools at Lowe's.On Wednesday, the home improvement company announced that customers would be able to borrow tools at Lowe's stores nationwide, with the first rental department rolling out Thursday in Charlotte, N.C."For all of our customers, having the right tool is key to every project, but they may not always want to purchase a new tool or piece of equipment. Lowe's Tool Rental helps customers save on the cost of owning, maintaining, and storing the tools they need," said Fred Stokes, senior vice president of Pro Sales and Services for Lowe's in a news release. "As the new home for Pros, offering tool rental is just another way we are committed to keeping them working. Whether a Pro's tool fails on the job, needs a repair or they're looking to try something new, tool rental will allow them to get back to the job site faster, saving them time and money."The company said that each store's Tool Rental department will be about 4,000 square feet that would be a fully equipped mechanic shop to service tools, space for on-site cleaning and product demo areas.To rent, consumers will select the device they need, confirm the rental date, and reserve it online.The tools available for rent will be drain cleaning, restoration, sanitation, and concrete tools with brands such as Husqvarna, Bosch, and Metabo HPT.The company has 2,200 home improvement and hardware stores in the U.S. and Canada. 1446

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A couple in Ohio said their children are no longer welcome at their school because of their hairstyle. The parents said they refuse to cut their sons’ locs in order to conform.“I don’t see how his hair stops him from learning or doing anything else,” Tina Johnson said.Nate and Tina Johnson's 6-year-old son, Asten, has been enrolled at Zion Temple Christian Academy for the past three years with no issue – but when they reached out to enroll their 3-year-old, they were told both boys were not allowed to have locs.“At this point, I’m fighting for my son,” Tina Johnson said.For the Johnsons, their hair and their heritage are intertwined. It’s a message they passed on to their children.“He doesn’t need to conform to fit any kind of mold,” Tina Johnson said.The family said they were disappointed to find out the predominantly-Black school they’ve been sending Asten to since Pre-K wouldn’t take him back with his hair in a certain style.“If this was a school in a different neighborhood, I don’t think the sting would be as hard,” she said.The Zion Temple Christian Academy in Avondale sent out an email saying "hair must be cut one inch short." Braids and design cuts for boys are also banned. WCPO reached out to Zion Temple Christian Academy for comment on this story but could not reach anyone who was allowed to comment on the school’s hair policy.“I’m sure it’s grown some, but it’s not drastically different from what it was in the school year,” she said. “He did start transitioning to this loc journey during the school year.”The Johnsons will be enrolling their kids in other schools – a tough, last-minute decision they said they feel they have no choice but to make.“It’s okay to be who you are, be confident in your own skin and relish that,” Nate Johnson said. “It’s something that you should be proud of.
