19-year-old Sydney Aiello was a young woman who a Marjory Stoneman Douglas teacher described as a joy to have in class.Aiello was close friends with Meadow Pollack, one of 17 people to be killed by a mass shooter last year. Aiello's mother said that her daughter felt survivor's guilt and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder following the events of Feb. 14, 2018.Aiello's mom said her daughter struggled to attend college classes because she was afraid of being in a classroom and was sad — but never asked for help before she killed herself. Now, Aiello's mother hopes her story can help save others."It breaks my heart that we've lost yet another student from Stoneman Douglas," Ryan Petty said.Petty's daughter Alaina died in the shooting. (CNN) -- Vice President Mike Pence made an unannounced trip to Iraq to visit US troops ahead of Thanksgiving, landing in the country Saturday amid violent anti-government protests.Pence visited the Al Asad Air Force Base in western Iraq, where he was greeted by the US Ambassador to Iraq and several military officers. He received a classified briefing from the commanding officer on the base and spoke by phone with Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi. On the call, Pence told Mahdi that he traveled to Iraq in part to "extend gratitude to the men and women (of the US military) serving in your country," according to the TV travel pool with the vice president.Mike Pence and his wife Karen Pence later served the troops a Thanksgiving lunch, with the Vice President serving turkey and Mrs. Pence handing out yams.As service members came up to them, the Pences asked each where they were from and thanked them for their service.Vice President Pence then delivered remarks to about 150 service members in a hanger. "The President and your Vice President and the American people are behind you 100%," Pence said, according to the TV travel pool.Pence told the service members that the Trump administration was "fighting to secure another pay raise for the men and women in the military," but added "we need Congress to do their jobs," the TV travel pool reported."Congress should have finished their work months ago but you know that partisan politics and endless investigations have slowed things down," Pence said, according to the pool, referring to the House impeachment proceedings into President Donald Trump and Ukraine.Pence also mentioned the 1663

A body that was found in an Oregon home two months ago has been identified as that of long-missing Dennis Day, one of the original members of "The Mickey Mouse Club" TV show from the 1950s, police said. The remains of Day, 76, were found April 4 at his house in the southern Oregon city of Phoenix, but investigators weren't confident enough to identify the corpse until Thursday, Oregon State Police said.Because of the corpse's condition, investigators couldn't use dental records or DNA to identify it, and instead decided Thursday that the remains were Day's through "investigation, evidence and other information," police said in a statement. His death is under investigation, state police said.Day was reported missing in mid-July by his husband, who suffers memory loss and was in a hospital at the time, 822
