CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for the suspects accused of stabbing a 15-year-old to death as he tried to defend his friend at a Chula Vista birthday party in late January. According to police, the stabbing took place on January 31 on the 900 block of Maria Way in Chula Vista. Police say an argument broke out between two teenagers. The argument later turned physical and, as the 15-year-old -- identified by friends as Devin Griffiths -- tried to help a friend being attacked by several men, he was stabbed in the upper body, according to police. CINCINNATI -- Lockland (Ohio) firefighter Michael Allen said he could feel his heart beating in his chest when he heard a 10-month-old was trapped in an apartment fire.A mother had been cooking at her apartment on Sunday when a fire started in the kitchen. She was able to get three of her children outside, but the smoke was too thick for her to get to her baby. A police officer tried to rescue the child, but he too was swallowed in smoke.Allen was on his way to the fire when he learned the child was trapped on the second floor.“There was no thinking twice, there was no second guessing in what had to be done. You just – you know everything comes to you, things (you've) probably not thought about in five years … everything comes back, and you jump in the action and you go,” Allen said.He said he could see the fire growing from the kitchen when he opened the door. He heard the baby crying as he put his oxygen mask on and made his way through the smoke to the second floor.“The baby stopped crying, so then immediately you’re thinking the worst is about to happen,” Allen said. “I made it into her bedroom. I found the crib relatively quick, was able to pick her up and when I did she did start to cry again, so I took my mask off, covered her face up and brought her outside to mom.”Allen has been a firefighter for more than 10 years. He said nothing tops the joy he felt when he handed the baby to her mother.“It’s an incredible feeling. It’s exactly why we do this job,” Allen said. “It doesn’t matter who you are. You become a fireman to help people and make their day better than what it was before you got there.”First responders gave the baby oxygen and transported her to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for observation, but she is expected to be OK.Allen said he knows things could have been much worse.“Had we been on a call, you gotta have units respond from other departments if you’re out, so knowing that everything just fell in place perfectly today and that little baby is going to make it … it’s a good feeling,” he said. 2097

Canned cocktails are also in the works for the brewery. In addition to the restaurant and bar, the location will also house a five-barrel brewing system and fermentation tanks.“Our goal is to shift the axis of brewing tourism to southern San Diego attracting downtown and northern San Diego residents and tourists to experience our work and our community. With other local breweries we can put Chula Vista on the map as an official destination of the beer and gastronomic map,” said Tiago Carneiro, founder of Novo Brazil Brewery.Carneiro says they intend to brew more than 100 different beers using the massive system in their first year alone. The new brewery will allow Novo to brew specialty beers and test new recipes. RELATED: San Diego craft beer study shows craft brewery, economic impact growthA small retail section inside to brewpub will also offer Brazilian products, like coffee, to buy.To capture Brazil's colorful flair, Novo's owners hired Brazilian architect, Gustavo Penna, to help develop the brewpub's design. The result is a black and white wave pattern across the building — inside and out— representative of Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana Beach. The bar, which owners say is the longest in the South Bay, curls around the facility and guests can kick back in furniture made from Brazilian wood around unique murals from Brazilian artists.“Our story began in Brazil, where we learned the art of brewing and created the most awarded brewery in South America," Carneiro said. "We believe our difference is our Brazilian way of showing the colorful culture and happiness of four homelands. We were fortunate to find a sister city in South Bay, named after our hometown of Belo Horizonte (Beautiful Horizon), where we were warmly welcomed by the entire community."RELATED: Craft beer scene brewing in Chula VistaCarneiro says that Brazilian style of brewing is what earned his family the most awarded beers in Brazil and 17 international beer awards just three years after opening their first South Bay spot.Novo's original location also continues to serve fans on Lane Avenue in Chula Vista. 2825
