TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Walmart employee called Tarpon Springs, Florida police on Thursday to report a strong odor coming from a van parked in the store's parking lot. The employee told police the older model van had insect activity on the interior of the van's windows and there was a strong smell coming from the van. Police responded to the location and found an older model Ford E-150 van parked at the north end of the parking lot near Tarpon Avenue. When officers entered the vehicle, they discovered a dead person. Detectives have responded to the scene and are conducting a full investigation into the death. TAMPA BAY, Fla. — According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 107 people from 21 states, including Florida, have reported contracting measles between January 1 to July 14, 2018.Measles is a virus that is easily spread by air droplets when infected persons breathe, cough, or sneeze. The first symptoms are a high fever that may spike to 105°F, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. These symptoms are followed by a blotchy rash that spreads from the head to the feet.Measles is a potentially severe disease, especially young children and persons with compromised immune systems.
