DETROIT (AP) — The United Auto Workers union announced that its roughly 49,000 members at General Motors plants in the U.S. will go on strike Sunday night because contract negotiations with the automaker had broken down.The decision came after about 200 plant-level union leaders voted unanimously in favor of a walkout during a meeting Sunday morning in Detroit."We stood up for General Motors when they needed us most. Now we are standing together in unity and solidarity for our members," union Vice President Terry Dittes said in a statement.It's still possible that bargainers could return to the table and hammer out an agreement, but union spokesman Brian Rothenberg said at a news conference that it would be unlikely. Our goal remains to build a strong future for our employees and our business," the company said.On Saturday, UAW Vice President Terry Dittes said in a letter to GM members that after months of bargaining, both the union and GM were far apart on issues such as wages, health care, temporary employees, job security and profit-sharing. The letter to members and another one to GM were aimed at turning up the pressure on GM negotiators."While we are fighting for better wages, affordable quality health care, and job security, GM refuses to put hard working Americans ahead of their record profits," Dittes, the union's chief bargainer with GM, said in a statement Saturday night.A strike by 49,200 union workers would bring to a halt GM's U.S. production, and would likely stop the company from making vehicles in Canada and Mexico as well. That would mean fewer vehicles for consumers to choose from on dealer lots, and it would make it impossible to build specially ordered cars and trucks.The strike would be the union's first since a two-day work stoppage at GM in 2007.On Friday, union leaders extended contracts with Ford and Fiat Chrysler indefinitely, but the pact with General Motors was still set to expire Saturday night.The union picked GM, which is more profitable than Ford and Fiat Chrysler, as the target company, meaning it's the focus of bargaining and would be the first company to face a walkout. Picket line schedules already have been posted near the entrance to one local UAW office in Detroit.Talks between the union and GM were tense from the start, largely because GM plans to close four U.S. factories. The union has promised to fight the closures.Here are the main areas of disagreement:— GM is making big money, billion last year alone, and workers want a bigger slice. The union wants annual pay raises to guard against an economic downturn, but the company wants to pay lump sums tied to earnings. Automakers don't want higher fixed costs.— The union also wants new products for the four factories GM wants to close. The factory plans have irked some workers, although most of those who were laid off will get jobs at other GM factories. GM currently has too much U.S. factory capacity.— The companies want to close the labor cost gap with workers at plants run by foreign automakers. GM's gap is the largest at per hour, followed by Ford at and Fiat Chrysler at , according to figures from the Center for Automotive Research. GM pays per hour in wages and benefits compared with at the foreign-owned factories.— Union members have great health insurance plans but workers pay about 4% of the cost. DENVER — The deaf community in Colorado has an unusual problem with marijuana.How do you sign "endocannabinoid"?In Dank's Denver dispensary, budtenders are ready to help. But for some, placing an order is more complicated.Larry Littleton is deaf and a certified interpreter, demonstrating the difficulties as he wrote out an order for the person behind the counter."I believe that it's important for a patient to be empowered and when we don't have communication access," said Littleton.Even among other deaf people, American Sign Language isn't up to speed on weed. That's where a Boulder nonprofit, ECS Therapy Center, is stepping in to help create new cannabis-related vocabulary of signs for the deaf community.Regina Nelson is bringing together interpreters and deaf professionals to compile a video glossary."If this is the best sign for marijuana," she said, showing a sign that looks like holding a joint to her mouth, "it's really not appropriate to cannabis and cannabis oil and these other things."Nelson hopes to finish the glossary next year and as it goes into informal use, she says she hopes to eventually petition the Sign Language Academy to add it to the official lexicon.  "As a social scientist, language is what normalizes things and so to help empower the deaf community to develop language around this is what will help normalize medical cannabis use," she said.The group of volunteers is touring grows and dispensaries this week to learn about the industry and hoping to make it more ADA friendly. His campaign said he tested negative for COVID twice on Friday.Biden says he was not tested for the coronavirus on Saturday but will undergo such screening on Sunday.After attending Saturday evening Catholic Mass in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden was asked if he’d undergone testing for the virus that day and replied, “No, but I will tomorrow morning.”Biden’s campaign has not announced any public events for its candidate on Sunday.Bates said in the statement that Biden was not in “close contact” with Trump, his family members or his aides during their debate Tuesday night. DETROIT — Tyesha Dukes says her baby boy, Julies, was born in December 2017 but lost him hours later. She says she trusted Perry Funeral Home to bury her son, but never received a death certificate stating where he had been buried.Dukes says once news hit of 11 fetuses being found inside the ceiling of Cantrell Funeral Home, she got worried and called Perry Funeral Home. She placed the call Thursday, the day before the police raid occurred that turned up 63 infant remains and fetuses improperly stored inside the funeral home. “I had called just to see," Dukes said. "If it’s baby bodies at this funeral home, let me call and see if my baby, you know, (is) buried or not." She says that she was assured her baby was buried at Gethsemane Cemetery off of Gratiot in Detroit, but now she is not so sure. “This funeral home is under investigation." Dukes said. "How do I know my baby is not in there thrown to the side?" Detroit Police say they found 37 fetuses and infants inside three unrefrigerated cardboard boxes, and another 27 from a freezer inside Perry Funeral Home Friday afternoon. According to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affair’s Database, and Perry Funeral Home's website, the owner of Perry Funeral Home is James Vermeulen. Vermeulen is also the owner of Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral homes in Plymouth and Westland. WXYZ received a statement from Vermeulen’s lawyer, Collins Einhorn Farrell law firm based out of Southfield. It states:  1542
