OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Forever 21 is one of a handful of stores that allows men and women to try on clothes in the same area.Now, some shoppers believe it might be time for a change.This comes after a man was charged for allegedly recording a woman and a girl inside a Forever 21 changing room at the Overland Park mall.“For a place like this, I don't think that's appropriate at all to have men, women and children in the same dressing room at all,” said Jaymee Henderson, who shops at Forever 21.Scripps station KSHB in Kansas City sat down with an attorney to find out what the laws are when it comes to recording video in a clothing store like this.Attorney Bernie Rhodes said anything within the store is fair game."If I want to walk into a Forever 21 store and put my cell phone in my breast pocket and film my interaction with the sales clerk, that's perfectly legal,” said Rhodes.But once you get to the dressing room area, the rules change."What a store can't do is install a security camera in the bathroom or dressing rooms because there we have what we call an expectation of privacy. The same is true for perverts,” said Rhodes.Rhodes said a person can record themselves in the dressing room with their own device.In the Forever 21 dressing rooms, there is a large gap between the floor and the fitting room wall. That’s how prosecutors allege a man took video of a girl and a woman on his cell phone.A petition on Change.org is calling on the store to separate their dressing rooms by gender, but Rhodes believes that change won’t prevent people from breaking the law."It falls upon the individual who is acting illegally, he or she knows what they're doing is wrong. You can make the wall go all the way to the floor and they'll drill a hole in it,” said Rhodes.He says privacy laws can be violated anywhere, not just in the dressing room at a clothing store."Unfortunately, it does happen more often than we'd like to think,” said Rhodes.KSHB reached out to Forever 21 to find out if they intend to make changes to their fitting rooms, we have not heard back. 2102

PALA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The third woman who died in a Saturday morning bus crash in Pala Mesa has been identified as 23-year-old Cinthya Karely Rodriguez Banda. The San Diego County Medical Examiner says Banda died after being ejected from the bus. She was from Mexico. Monday, the two other women who died in the crash were identified. Maria De La Luz Diaz, 67 of Riverside, and Julia Perez Cornejo, 73 of Pasadena, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to information from the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.RELATED: Charter bus had a history of maintenance violationsThe women were among 21 passengers in a charter bus traveling from El Monte to Tijuana that crashed on rain-slicked southbound 15 near State Route 76 around 10:25 a.m. Saturday. A total of 11 of the passengers suffered major injuries, including a 5-year-old boy who was airlifted to a Riverside County hospital. CHP said Monday night that the boy was in stable condition and is expected to recover. Police searched early Thursday for a man who robbed a Nashville area pizza chain at gunpoint.Metro Nashville Police officers were called to the Domino's Pizza on Hamilton Crossing in Antioch at about midnight Thursday.  Two employees told officers they heard the drive-thru bell go off, and saw a Toyota Camry parked a short distance from the window. When one of the employees approached the window, he told officers a man who had been crouching below the window jumped up and pointed a handgun at the worker.Police said the suspect then crawled through the drive-thru window and demanded the workers empty the cash register. He took the cash and left the Domino's through the drive-thru window. The victims told police they saw the suspect get into the white Toyota Camry they saw parked away from the window. Neither Domino's worker was hurt in the robbery. Investigators don't have much in the way of a description of the suspect, as the victims told them he had his face covered with a black and white bandana. Officers at the scene told us there is surveillance video that they are reviewing. People of color and allies are participating in Blackout Day on Tuesday to support the African American community and Black-owned businesses.Blackout Day is an economic protest organized by The Blackout Coalition. Participants are asked not to spend any money on July 7, but if they must spend, they’re asked to do so only at Black-owned businesses.The coalition says the movement is exclusively targeted at empowering and uplifting Black people, but it welcomes all people of color to stand in solidarity with them. The organization says it also welcomes allies who choose to participate in the protest, but leaders say they “make absolutely no apology for the fact this movement is FOR US & BY US.”The goal of the protest is to highlight the buying power of African Americans. In 2018, Black buying power reached .3 trillion, up from 0 billion in 1990, according to Nielsen.“This is only the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of economic empowerment as a reality for ALL BLACK PEOPLE,” the organization wrote on its “about” page. “United, we are an unstoppable force. We are a nation of people within this nation that at any time can demand our liberation by withholding our dollars. If we can do it for a day, we can do it for a week, a month, a quarter, a year…and one day we will look up and it will be a way of life.”The protest comes in the wake of nationwide protests against police brutality following the death of multiple Black people, most notably George Floyd in Minneapolis on Memorial Day. Police say one person was fatally shot in Portland, Oregon, as Black Lives Matter protesters and people from a large caravan of President Donald Trump supporters clashed in the streets. It wasn’t clear if the shooting Saturday night was linked to fights that broke out as a caravan of about 600 vehicles was confronted by protesters in the city’s downtown. Police say the caravan had left the area about 15 minutes before gunshots rang out. Oregon’s largest city has been the site of nightly protests for three months since the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
