SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Many Asian American business owners continue to struggle during the pandemic, but a North County teen is hoping to help by creating a website to support local restaurants."I was hearing a lot of stories about Asians in my community experiencing discrimination during the pandemic," said 17-year-old Kaia Culotta.The teen said coming from a family of small business owners, she wanted to do something to help."I realized that there wasn't an easily accessible, comprehensible list of Asian owned businesses in my community," said Culotta. "So, I saw a need for that."For weeks, Culotta learned how to code through free programs online to build a website. The "Help Asian Owned Businesses" site has an extensive list of restaurants located around the county.Culotta said her project sparked the interest of San Diego City Councilmember Chris Cate. He even shared a video promoting the site on social media."It is awesome. It's such a neat thing to be doing out of the goodness of her heart," said Joe Kao, owner of R3fresh Juice Bar.After seeing Cate's video, the small business owner reached out to the teen to thank her for putting the site together.Kao said his business, like many others, had fewer customers during the pandemic. "We definitely saw a drop in business, but we've stayed open," he said.Kao applauds Culotta's work and thanks her for thinking of the county's small Asian business owners. 1430

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Life is changing on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, as dozens go into precautionary quarantine after exposure to COVID-19.The protocols you see around San Diego County are in effect on base, bringing the Health Protection Condition on base up to Level Bravo, according to Public Information Officer Capt. Matthew Gregory.The spectrum ranges from Alpha to Delta.RELATED: Third MCAS Miramar Marine tests positive for coronavirusThat means changes to daily life, starting at the gate."Our gate guards are now under a no touch ID policy, so the driver will keep hold of their ID. They'll get looked at by the MPs [Military Police] and wave them through," Capt. Gregory said.Restaurants on base are carry-out only. The chapel, tax center and gym are closed. I cannot remember in my lifetime anything that has happened on this scale," Capt. Gregory said.No tight formations, like you would see at Color Guard practice, or group meetings are allowed to comply with social distancing protocol.The base learned key practices from the CDC and Health and Human Services during the waves of Americans quarantined on base after returning from China, or a cruise. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - KAABOO Del Mar will become KAABOO San Diego in 2020 as the popular music festival held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds moves to Petco Park. The change was announced by its producers Sunday at the end of a sold-out three day festival, its fifth at the North County location. Concerts will be held on Petco Park's playing field, Sycuan Stage at the Park, Lexus Premier Lot, and the Tailgate Lot, KAABOO officials said. “The location of Petco Park and its surrounding venues in downtown San Diego provides fans and artists alike the opportunity to enjoy everything that the vibrant metro area has to offer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It took a mere two days for San Diego's dockless scooter war to become that much more interesting.Thursday, ride-sharing service Lyft launched its own dockless scooters in San Diego, a day after competing company Uber released about 300 of its own scooters into the city.Much like Uber's JUMP scooters, Lyft allows riders to access scooters through its mobile app to reserve a scooter or unlock one on the spot.
