CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Crews were able to stop the forward rate of spread after a fast-moving brush fire sparked in Campo Sunday afternoon. According to the agency, the fire started around 1:30 p.m. in the area of I-8 and Old Highway 80. Cal Fire originally said the blaze had a rapid rate of spread with structures threatened. Crews later said the forward rate of spread had been stopped at 1.5 acres. CENTERVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Investigators say "recent information" in the 2003 disappearance of Tabitha Tuders led to detectives searching a rural part of Hickman County this week.Metro Nashville Police Department officials confirmed the update on Wednesday morning, saying cold case detectives, along with Urban Search and Rescue officers and FBI agents were on scene.Police spokesperson Don Aaron said the police department has pursued numerous leads in the 17 years since Tuders' disappearance. Aaron said a theory that she may have been on the property in 2003 led to today's search.Tuders was 13 when she vanished in April of 2003. She was on her way to catch the bus near her family's home on Lillian Street in Nashville. She hasn't been seen since.Police described the search area as a six-acre, rugged plot of land with a small, dilapidated house on it. The terrain was described as mostly wooded.Sgt. Charles Rutzky said the search was based on "old and new information." He said information has been developed as to how Tuders possibly got to the property, but that's something they're still investigating.Rutzky said they're looking for any evidence to support the theory that she's been in the area. CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — The body of an 11-month-old girl whose disappearance prompted an Amber Alert has been found dead in a diaper box, her mother is reportedly in custody. According to WBTV, the mother, 19-year-old Breanna Lewis, had initially told officials that she was walking to her mailbox carrying her daughter when a man violently stole the baby out of her arms. The baby, Harlee Lane Lewis, was found dead a few hours later.Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the body was found inside a diaper box in a field about 1,000 yards behind a home in Chesterfield, South Carolina.Brooks says the Amber Alert was canceled “because we don’t think there was a kidnapping.” The mother was then taken into custody and is being questioned, along with other family members, according to WCIV. The mother has been charged with filing a false police report, according to WSOC. (AP) — The National Park Service says scientists are trying to determine the cause of death of an endangered whale calf that was found stranded on a beach on North Carolina’s Outer Banks.The young whale is considered to be “one of the rarest marine mammals” on earth, according to NPS.Biologists performed a necropsy on the North Atlantic right whale calf and took DNA samples Saturday.NPS at Cape Lookout National Seashore posted news of the whale’s death on its Facebook page.Right whales are critically endangered.
