A lawsuit has been filed against the County of San Diego and the former Assistant Sheriff for sexual harassment and retaliation.The employee began working for the Sheriff’s Department in 2010 at the Vista Detention Facility, according to the lawsuit.Team 10 is not naming her because she said she is a victim of sexual harassment. She alleged “Miller demoted her in retaliation for her rejection of his sexual advances and efforts to avoid further harassment by him.”Team 10 contacted the Sheriff’s Department late Monday. A spokesperson said Miller is no longer with the department, since he retired.She added they cannot comment on pending lawsuits. Team 10 is still waiting to hear back from a county spokesperson.The woman suing the County of San Diego and Miller also believed that “the county had received and/or was aware of several complaints from other employees about inappropriate sexual behavior of the Assistant Sheriff.”The lawsuit stated the county took no appropriate action to protect from Miller’s harassment.Team 10 previously contacted Miller when these allegations first arose in February.He told Team 10 investigator Melissa Mecija he could not comment on an ongoing investigation. He also said he “absolutely” denied allegations of inappropriate conduct.In late February, before the lawsuit was filed, a sheriff's spokesperson told Team 10: "Despite the allegations in the claim, the claimant was not demoted. A man released on parole from prison two weeks ago stole a police SUV near Dayton, Ohio, and crashed into a minivan filled with children, killing two 6-year-old girls, police said Tuesday.Ten others were injured, including five children and the suspect. One child remained in critical condition, police said.Dayton's police chief said that 32-year-old Raymond Walters was driving at nearly 100 mph (161 kph) in the stolen police cruiser through the city's downtown Monday night when he ran a red light and hit two vehicles.The family in the minivan had just stopped at a library and was leaving when Walters slammed into them, police said. Six of those inside the minivan were from the same family and the other child was a relative, police said.A coroner identified the two who died as Eleanor McBride, of Huber Heights, and Penelope Jasko, of Dayton. They were cousins, the family's priest told the Dayton Daily News.It all started when Walters stabbed his father and then took off in his father's pickup truck, said Police Chief Richard Biehl.Walters' father was driving him to a hospital to undergo a mental health evaluation and when he found out he attacked his father, Biehl said.Soon after driving off, Walters crashed in the neighboring suburb of Riverside and then he jumped into a Riverside police SUV that had responded to the crash, police said.The officer had not known about the stabbing and had no reason to suspect that Walters might try to flee, said Riverside Police Chief Frank Robinson. The officer had used a stun gun while trying to get Walters out of the cruiser, Robinson said.Dashcam video showed Walters driving backwards in the stolen cruiser and ramming into another Riverside cruiser before driving away.Police in Dayton were looking for Walters, but they were not chasing him when he crashed downtown, Biehl said.The impact split the stolen cruiser into several large pieces.Police will pursue murder charges against Walters, who was hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday, Beihl said. A Fort Hood soldier has been identified as the victim of a drowning in a Texas lake over the weekend.Officials say the body of Spc. Francisco Gilberto Hernandezvargas was recovered after a boating incident on Stillhouse Hollow Lake. The lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Lampasas River, southwest of Belton. The 24-year-old, whose home of record is listed as Woodside, New York, entered the army in May 2017 as an automatic rifleman and has been assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since December 2017.The Bell County Sheriff's Office was alerted that a male, while riding an inner tube behind a boat, went under water and did not surface on Saturday. This took place in the area of Dana Peak Park on Stillhouse Hollow Lake, according to officials.His body was recovered on Sunday.Hernandezvargas’ awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon.“The Black Knight family is heartbroken by the loss of Spc. Francisco Hernandezvargas. Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time,” said Lt. Col. Neil Armstrong, commander of 1st Bn. 5th Cav. Regt. “Spc. A Dutch woman is believed to be the first person in the world to die after contracting COVID-19 for a second time, according to multiple reports.Scientists report the 89-year-old woman suffered from a type of bone marrow cancer. She was admitted to the hospital earlier this year with severe cough and fever, and tested positive for the coronavirus. She left the hospital about a week later still feeling fatigue but other symptoms had gone.Two months later, she developed a fever, coughing and breathing difficulties, according to the Independent in the UK, while receiving chemotherapy treatment.The woman tested positive again for COVID-19 and doctors say she had no antibodies in her blood. She died two weeks later, according to CNN.Researchers believe the second infection was different and not prolonged symptoms of the first infection. A former Google engineer is accusing the company of firing him after he spoke out about incidents of racism, sexism and harassment.Tim Chevalier is suing Google for retaliation, wrongful termination and failure to prevent discrimination and harassment, according to a lawsuit filed in San Francisco on Wednesday.Silicon Valley -- and Google in particular -- has been shaken by fierce debates over diversity issues. Highly charged arguments between Google employees have at times burst into public view as the company wrestles with how to address the concerns.The lawsuit by Chevalier, who identifies as transgender and disabled, claims Google's culture is discriminatory. He alleges that some employees use the company's internal social-networking and messaging systems to belittle and bully women, people of color and LGBTQ colleagues."Chevalier pushed back on the online bullying he and others were experiencing, using the same internal messaging systems to try to educate his employer and coworkers on how to change Google's working conditions to be inclusive and supportive of underrepresented minorities, such as himself," the lawsuit says.His lawsuit alleges that rather than trying to address the concerns he was raising about other employees' behavior, Google fired him in November, citing the political nature of his posts."It is a cruel irony that Google attempted to justify firing me by claiming that my social networking posts showed bias against my harassers," Chevalier said in a statement provided by his lawyers.
