SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A heartbroken local woman says her brother was killed in a Phoenix park while trying to 'protect his friends.'"He was infamous for making people laugh. He had a heart bigger than his being," said Amy Clark, Isaac Clark's sister. Last month, Isaac Clark, 23, moved from San Diego to Phoenix to be closer to his 4-year-old son. He had a job lined up doing event setup. Last Wednesday, Clark found himself in a park around 1 a.m. His sister Amy says he was checking on two friends, who had been evicted and were living in a car.Police say he heard a vehicle being vandalized, and headed toward the sound before realizing it was his friends' car. That is when the suspects approached Clark, sparking a fight. Clark was stabbed multiple times. He would die at the hospital."I feel like he died a hero. He tried to do the right thing. He was trying to protect his friends," said a tearful Amy Clark.Three people were arrested. Police say Maurice James, 24, and Eldon Sandoval, 18 are facing second-degree murder charges. A third person, Chantel Ben, 21, faces hindering prosecution chargers."They took my one-and-only sibling. They took my one-and-only baby brother from me," she said.An emotional vigil was held at that park a night after the incident. Clark's sister is haunted by their conversation about the violence in the world right before he left San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A chlorine spill that prompted evacuations in University City was contained Monday evening. 30 gallons of chlorine spilled in the pump room of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center's Friedenburg Pool about 3:30 p.m. on Executive Drive at Regents Road, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Just after 4 p.m., the department said about 40 children were sheltered in place while crews developed a plan to mitigate the situation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A crucial part of the fight to end food insecurity depends on community donations. And the most significant impact often comes from a group of strangers that come together to donate, volunteer, and distribute. “I want to say the excess food we have is maybe 75 pounds to 100 pounds every couple of weeks,” said Adam Sapinoso. Sapinoso works for National Food Group, a wholesale food service distributor in San Diego. From time to time, his inventory exceeds his client's needs leaving him with additional food that he doesn’t need. That food is often tossed out. “It was just hard seeing that much food being thrown away, especially when you’re the one physically throwing it in the dumpster,” said Sapinoso. Looking for a solution, he turned to Feeding San Diego’s app called Meal Connect. This app connects restaurants and companies with Feeding San Diego volunteers. Those volunteers pick up excess food from companies and restaurants when it is most convenient for the company. Donate now to Month of a Million MealsThe volunteer then heads to one of Feeding San Diego’s distribution locations to drop off the donations. The food is then unpacked and sorted out and distributed to the community. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A baby southern white rhino born this week at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park has monumental implications moving forward.Not only is the rhino calf the zoo's first successful rhino birth via artificial insemination, it's the first successful in North America for the rhino species.The calf, named Edward, was born Sunday at the zoo's Nikita Kahn Rhino Rescue Center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Clairemont woman received a big shock when she looked at her doorbell camera video and found out who vandalized her truck.Every time Kris Larrabee looks at the scratch across the hood of her truck, she gets more upset."Deeply angry and deeply hurt," said Larrabee. The damage appeared Thursday morning after her husband parked the truck in the driveway the night before, blocking part of the sidewalk. "He came back from a long road trip, exhausted. He parked it there so he could unload it the next day," said Larrabee.Just before 6 a.m. on Caywood Street, their Ring video shows an older woman walking a dog, before she pauses to look at the truck. Immediately, she walks across the driveway and runs her hand along the hood, leaving behind a new scratch. Larrabee says repairs will total several thousand dollars."I couldn't believe it. I was shocked," said Larrabee.The identity of the culprit made her heart sink."She's a mature woman. At her age, she should have known better," said Larrabee.Larrabe was even more taken aback, because her other car has been keyed eight times in the driveway in the past year. She had suspected teenagers. In all, neighbors have reported dozens of similar incidents in the past year. A block away, the owner of a van and another vehicle tells 10News he has also been keyed eight times. In all those incidents, the sidewalk was partially blocked. The neighborhood is an older one with shorter driveways. "This is not the solution. She could have left a note. She could have come to us.
