MARATHON, Fla. -- Several dozen endangered sea turtles were flown from New England to Florida and are receiving treatment for something called “cold stunning.”The young sea turtles became stranded on beaches near Cape Cod, Massachusetts after overexposure to cold water. Being exposed to cold water for too long can result in a hypothermic reaction called “cold stunning,” and can cause turtles to stop eating and swimming.They were flown to the warmer climate of Florida over the Thanksgiving weekend and are being treated at various aquariums, turtle hospitals and facilities. Some of them may have to stay at the facilities for up to a year for testing and treatment.About 40 young Kemp Ridley sea turtles were taken to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, Florida. Another two dozen were taken to other marine centers, including the Florida Aquarium in Tampa.The rescue was made possible by a group of private pilots called “Turtles Fly Too,” who donated their planes, fuel and time to transport the animals. Men may have a harder time maintaining friendships during the pandemic.Experts say it’s because social distancing guidelines have forced men out of their normal ways of communicating.“Men tend to construct their friendships on a shoulder-to-shoulder basis and women tend to use a face-to-face basis, so guys will get together and do things, like sports, going to the sports bar, activities,” said University of Maryland Professor Geoffrey Greif, author of the book “Buddy System: Understanding Male Friendships.”Greif says it's rare for men to reach out to each other just to talk. Men tend to be more cautious about how much they share.They'll also only ask to do something together so many times before the invitation is returned.“We're just not socialized to feel comfortable. We don't want to seem like we are stalking another guy for a friendship. MEXICO CITY (KGTV) — Authorities Friday say at least two people have been killed at an elementary school in northern Mexico after a student opened fire on his teacher and classmates.Coahuila state Gov. Miguel Angel Riquelme said an 11-year-old sixth-grade student at Colegio Cervantes in Torreon, Coahuila, is the suspected gunman, the Associated Press reported. The student reportedly asked his teacher to use the bathroom and later returned to class with two firearms. Riquelme said the student killed his teacher and himself, and wounded five other students and a gym teacher at the private school. The AP reported that the unnamed student told a classmate, "today is the day" before leaving the class.The student is not believed to have shown any behavioral problems in the past, but investigators were looking into his online activity, according to Riquelme. Their coverage area includes some of the mountainous terrain in the country.Thanks to a partnership with Gravity Industries, reaching patients in this rough terrain could get a lot faster, boosted by a jet suit.Recently, a test flight of the jet suit in a simulated emergency rescue situation showed a huge difference in travel time.
