My Mom, the one and only, Maggie Griffin, passed away today. Hours ago. I am gutted. She was my best friend. She was my family. You knew her. She appreciated you guys so much. I’m shaking. I won’t ever be prepared. Her point of view. So unique. We just GOT each other. I’m so grateful you got to be part of her life. You loved her. I know it. She knew it. She’s irreplaceable. I’m telling you right now, I am not doing well with this. I’m rambling now. Sorry. It truly feels like the end of an era. Oh, and OF COURSE she went on St Patrick’s Day. I love you guys. KG 582
It’s two weeks after Election Day, and President Donald Trump still refuses to concede that he lost the battle for the White House. Recounts underway are not expected to change the result. Democrat Joe Biden captured enough electoral votes to become the next President of the United States at noon on Jan 20.But what if Donald Trump refuses to leave the White House and keeps fighting?Seem far-fetched? Perhaps. But Monday morning, Trump tweeted, “I won the election!” And then, a little later, “The Radical Left Democrats, working with their partner, the Fake News Media, are trying to STEAL this Election. We won’t let them!” The Radical Left Democrats, working with their partner, the Fake News Media, are trying to STEAL this Election. We won’t let them!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 16, 2020 So, what may have once been unthinkable seems like a valid question to ask.PIX11 put the question to five leading election law scholars. What would happen if President Trump refused to leave, assuming the electoral votes cast on Electoral College Day (Dec. 14) go as expected and Joe Biden gets more than half the 538 available.“The important thing is not whether he is physically in the White House,” said Michael Dimino of Widener University Commonwealth Law School in Harrisburg, PA. “The important thing is who is permitted to exercise the powers of the presidency. The Constitution establishes a procedure for deciding that question.”That means Donald Trump no longer would have any authority.Professor Justin Levitt of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles told us, “The states will certify their results, the electors will cast their votes, Congress will count those votes … and then we’ve got a new President. And at noon on the 20th. … the only way that Donald Trump will be permitted on White House grounds is if he’s invited.”Richard Briffault, an authority on election law at Columbia Law School put it this way, “I also assume that at noon on January 20, he becomes a trespasser and possibly a security risk and could be removed.”Presumably, any forced removal would be handled by the same agency that protected President Trump during his term, the Secret Service.Rebecca Green, the co-director of the Election Law Program at William & Mary Law School, described what the new president could do to resolve any problem.“If Joe Biden is duly elected president and Trump refuses to leave the White House, Biden will order that Trump be escorted from White House grounds,” Green said.Another expert, whom we’re not naming because the professor is under contract as an election analyst with another media outlet, agreed that if Donald Trump stays in the White House, he’d be a trespasser and “he’d be escorted out if it came to that.”"Nobody can retain the powers of the presidency by refusing to leave,” Professor Dimono summed up. He underscored that the country is a nation of law. “It is the votes of the electors -- as counted by Congress -- that determine who can exercise the powers of the presidency," Dimono said. So, one way or the other, Donald Trump would have to vacate the premises. Johnny Perri grew up in Michigan at his dad's jewelry store in Washington Township, J & M Jewelers. The lockdown due to COVID-19 not only took an economic toll on the business, but it also left Johnny bored, looking for somewhere to focus his energy. And then, he found it -- the perfect farewell to his late father's store and a chance for some adventure of his own. “Had the time of our life burying everything. It was awesome, man," he told 7 Action News. That's right -- Johnny and his wife Amy buried most of the store's inventory, all over Michigan. From metro Detroit to the U.P., you can find vintage engagement rings, precious coins, gold, and silver. Johnny guesses each buried treasure is worth around ,000. All told, he said he buried around million worth of treasure. And all of the treasure is up for grabs - for those who buy a ticket to Johnny's Adventure Quest, which starts officially on Aug. 1.Aside from a lot of fun, there's one thing Johnny wants people to get out of this massive treasure hunt. "Memories. Life is made of memories and that was our slogan here all these years," he said. Each treasure has a GPS tracker, so Johnny will know if they've moved. Once found, you can keep the treasure or sell it back to Johnny. Some of the treasure is 150 years old – precious inventory passed down from his father. "He would think I’m nuts," Johnny said. "But he'd be all for it. He was a big giver." For more information, click here. WXYZ's Jenn Schanz first reported this story. 1535
“Is this an advertisement for why women should get tummy tucks?”? ? “Why aren’t there any fit women in this photo? Not every postpartum body is fat and loose.”? ? “Why has society made it ok to bash women who bounce back yet glorify women who can’t lose weight?”? ? “How about dieting?”? ? “Posts like this bother me. Not losing the weight is a choice.”? ? “I’m a mother of 4 but I’m also a smokin’ hot wife because that’s my duty. No way I’d be happy or settle to look like this.”? ? “Photos like this tear women apart.”? ? “So, you’re saying that skinny women don’t have real bodies?”? ? Just a small sample of the comments we’ve received over the past few days since our original post went live. It’s a shame that the point has been completely missed by some of the people that have taken time out of their day to comment. (The point being: the four of us have been friends online for a long time and finally met IRL and took a last minute photo together...of our different postpartum body types...to show that all body types are beautiful.)? ? If you look at this photo and your first thought is “why are there no skinny women”, you have bigger issues to deal with, my friend. You can look literally anywhere: film, TV, Instagram, magazines, video games and see skinny women. Other body types are absolutely underrepresented in media and it causes women with those body types to feel less than... to feel like they’re not good enough.? ? I want to encourage anyone who felt the need to leave any of the above comments to dig deeper, self-reflect, gain some perspective, learn. Your comment says WAY fucking more about you than it does about us.? ? Be better. 1678
